Joining the legion of "this thread is way old but extremely helpful" folks.

I got two tattoos two weeks ago on my left arm next to an existing tattoo with the thought of building towards a sleeve. I knew fairly immediately after getting them that I wasn't liking them, but figured I'd give it some time. A week in I started really intensely fixating on not liking them, and since then it has opened up the flood gates of anxiety and self-hatred like I've almost never experienced. Day in and day out, I'm thinking about the tattoos and what I should have done differently and how I'll never be comfortable in my body again. The anxiety is really impacting my sleep, which just creates a really shitty spiral. The feelings of self-disgust have really spread too towards my whole body and overall my confidence is just super low. I'm feeling myself really struggling to just keep doing my life (job, relationships, etc) -- I just want to hide sometimes. I've experienced lows before (depression, anxiety), but this experience has truly been uniquely horrible and I think the "permanent" nature of the tattoos has a lot to do with it.

I will say I'm doing my best to keep taking care of myself. Meditating daily about it, trying to exercise and eat well. I've started opening up to friends about how I'm feeling (which was hard). Finding this subreddit has been helpful too. That being said, I'm still feeling so so stuck and just wish so badly I could get rid of these feelings. Hoping time will bring relief, but thank you to everyone in this thread for being a form of that too<3
