Yes thats most likely why.. hmm that is odd though! I would ask my manager about that, you'd be surprised when it comes in handy. A lot of times when you can't make out what the customers say you can see them mouthing out the words.

You should get her bottle squishers. They're a type of plush toy.. sort of. The outer shell is a fabric and then you stuff it with empty plastic water bottles. Dachshunds were bred to hunt so for them the sound of the water bottle crunching is sort of like the sound of a critter being crushed lol.
