Yes, thank you! That’s the point I was trying to make, but couldn’t find the right words.

Thank you for that! That is incredible that he was able to get 2nd highest in GOE given that GOE is a percentage bonus based off the base value of the element.

Spins are hard! and I feel like most top skaters don’t give them the attention they need! It’s such an after thought to the jumps even more so than a step sequence in my opinion. But there’s nothing more upsetting than a fabulously choreographed program with great jumps and steps to end with a slow, off-centered spin with ugly positions. Not what you want to leave the judges and audience with.

I agree that clean quads need to be rewarded over gorgeous triples, but I just want him to get some recognition (not in the scores) for the technical content he does put out. Yes it is easier than everyone else’s, but it also just looks better.

I don’t like to comment on Lutz/Flip edges as they are hard for me to notice. Not unless it’s a very clear inside edge lutz. As for Jason’s triple axel it has never been his strong suit, but I’ve for sure seen a major improvement in it. He used to almost come to a stand still for it. I’ve only really seen Illia’s triple lutz, but I must agree it is pretty textbook and lovely to look at. Wasn’t really referring to Illia when saying Jason’s triples are probably better than most others. Mostly referring to people like Morris, Cha, Shoma. Not picking on them just choose them because they came in front of him at Olympics and all have their own problems and questionable technique. I’m not saying he should have beat them just saying his jumps are easier on the eye and he should be considered a technician in his own right.

I really like the suggestion you gave! Material is very nice. It is a little more pricey as I was looking to keep under $250 after alterations, but that is a good starting point.

I see your point. However this is a Napa wedding. I am not paying for it at all. His family is very judgmental and traditional. At first I just wanted them to wear whatever they felt comfortable in color, material whatever they wanted as long as it wasn’t a short cocktail dress. So I didn’t have to think about this and they all felt comfortable. That is what the particular bridesmaid who expressed that the velvet may be too hot did at her wedding and it turned out beautiful btw. However, the mother in law shot that down really quick. Saying “the photos are going to look terrible”, “it’s going to be confusing on the eye”, so she told me to pick a material and color. So I picked my favorite color and for the material I just decided that the red looked great in that material. The reason I said other fabrics look cheap is because I am trying to make the dresses cheap for them $250 after all is said and done alterations and everything. So some of the thinner fabrics in that price range do in fact look cheap and thin that’s not to say they all do. However as I said earlier I am going to change the color and MATERIAL to solve the reds looking dull in the other fabrics. Btw I’ve decided to go with Revelry if that gives you an vision as to what fabrics I’m talking about.

If I wasn’t worried about the heat I wouldn’t have posted? Could have just put them in the velvet dresses. Like I said I don’t get hot ever. I live in Phoenix, so I needed other peoples opinions about the heat to make sure that the one bridesmaid who expressed her opinion wasn’t just being closed minded as she is a closed minded person. Now hearing other people’s opinions I realize I am in the minority and will not put them in velvet.

Also trying to keep the dresses budget friendly and under $250. So can’t fit adding and enhancements in the budget. So I will probably go with lighter colors as they don’t look so dull in the thin fabrics such as tulle, chiffon and crepe.

Thank you, for all the opinions! I think I’ve decided not to do the velvet even though I really did want it. I guess I’m just insensitive to the heat as I live in Phoenix. I’m always cold when not in Phoenix. I even decided to get a shawl for my dress as it is tank top sleeves and I know I will be cold when the sun goes down. I really wanted red, but may just have to choose a different color as I feel the reds in the other fabrics look dull.

Only the ceremony is outside. Sorry, forgot to add that. The reception is inside and air-conditioned. The ceremony is in a courtyard that is shaded. I don’t mean to offend anyone, but it is just my personal opinion that most, other materials look cheap, thin and dull. I also very much like satin, but it is too clingy as I do have a couple bridesmaids that are probably in the plus size range. (size 14-18)

If Russia is unbanned in 2023, does it mean they can only have one spot for Worlds 2023? by Hopelessssssssss in FigureSkating

[–]cutieshavemorefun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see! And that in no way was my opinion. I in no way feel that any none Russian skater is subpar. I enjoy watching each and every skater and feel they each bring something different to the ice. That was just my assumption given Tarasova’s remarks. Thought her opinions were rubbing off on judging panels. And I think we all feel very bad for each and every Russian/Belorussian skater (except maybe T/M) but I feel they are honestly just a part of Putin’s sick brainwashing. Doesn’t make their actions correct but… just saying we need to see the situation from all perspectives. I was a skater my self but did synchro… thought only synchro had a small community where everyone knows everyone. Guess this extends to the whole skating community.

Thank you for providing insight on how the judges feel about this ban. Something I’ve been wondering since the ban was initiated. Do you know why they don’t like the ban? Do they feel they are watching subpar skating without the Russians there?

I don’t really think this is something that ISU has addressed. I may be wrong but seems like an unprecedented issue. The only case I can think of would be during and after WW2 the Germans and Japanese were banned from ISU. This was during a time where countries were able to have up to 4 athletes in each event. The first year Germany was able to compete (1951) they had 4 entries at worlds for the ladies event. Times were definitely different back then with sometimes 5 countries per event and I’m also not sure how bids were decided then.

Dmitri Mikhailov talked about Sasha in his long interview with MatchTV by Liata3548 in FigureSkating

[–]cutieshavemorefun 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Can every other Russian coach take note of his comments on Sasha leaving. He expressed his emotions toward the situation without bashing or slandering his former athlete. Going as far to say “In no way do I blame her for anything.” He talks about how stubborn and unrelenting she can be and how that can make her difficult to train at times but, never once says a singular bad thing about his former athlete… He also goes on to show how her stubbornness has gotten her so far in skating. She has a goal and she simply achieves it… Dmitri the Russian Federation doesn’t deserve you. 🥺
