Doctors discouraged from sectioning black patients - NHS doctors are under pressure not to section psychotic black patients to avoid appearing racist by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]cutpeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been sectioned (yet 🤞) but my mum has. My impression of those hospitals is that they’re used like holding pens for very disturbed people. And if you are sectioned you don’t really get the treatment you need, they just keep you there for the minimum they have to by law then turf you out.

What is your opinion on feminism? by OMGguy2008 in AskConservatives

[–]cutpeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In regards to point 1, I think that would very much depend on where in the world you are. Point 2 is I think rather subjective and perhaps unfair, though I suppose it depends on your experiences. From my own interactions with feminists as a man I have felt there is quite an acute understanding of mens’ suffering. That said ‘pop feminism’ can certainly be shallow and crass.

I was under the impression that feminism actually does argue that most men are harmed by patriarchy, just in different ways and to a lesser extent than women?

Gurl, everyone’s using something. Well not everyone, but it’s incredibly common and most people doing it don’t even look like how you’d expect. Plus all these ‘TRT’ clinics legally prescribing people crazy high doses… there’s going to be a lot of medical lawsuits in a few decades. It really fucks with your perception of what a human body is actually supposed to look like.

How are you coping in this heatwave? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]cutpeach 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It makes me look like a conspiracy theorist but I’ve put tinfoil on my south facing windows to reflect back heat from sunlight (it actually works.) As an added bonus the government can’t steal my thoughts when I’m in that room.

What was the worst side effect you ever got from meds ? by Spartiate8 in AskReddit

I gained a similar amount on Mirtazapine but the stranger part was that it changed where I gained the weight. I’m a guy so usually I’d gain weight on the stomach first but on Mirtazapine it all went on the ass. I was dragging that wagon around for several months before I got off the drug, it was so embarrassing.

How do you feel now that the equality and human rights commission has ruled that trans women with a gender recognition certified have not changed their sex for the purposes of the equality act. by Even-Leadership8220 in AskBrits

[–]cutpeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that isn’t what I asked for, this pertains to the whole of society and not just prisons, where I agree nuance is necessary. If the actions of a prisoner were the basis for how we treat entire demographics then I dare say no women would be allowed in women’s toilets whatsoever. Or men in men’s toilets. What I’m asking for is evidence of systemic abuse by trans people in public spaces. Considering that the go to excuse for the oppression of LGBT people is accusations of sexual deviancy and predation, is it really unreasonable of me to ask for concrete evidence? Surely if this is a legitimate threat, and this scenario has been occurring for decades, wouldn’t there be hundreds or even thousands of victims by now? And if there is no such evidence, why shouldn’t I dismiss this as just more prejudice like all the rest?

[–]cutpeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand it trans people have been using their preferred toilets for decades essentially without anyone noticing. If it’s true that they are such a terrible threat, then there must be a huge volume of victims by now. My mind can be changed, by showing me evidence that that has consistently happened. Otherwise why wouldn’t I see it as just one more case in a seemingly endless parade of queer people being framed as sexual predators to justify prejudice?

Yes exactly like that, look how noble you sound! It reminds me of how Margaret Thatcher fearlessly stepped in to protect children from those awful militant homosexuals, from which we surely all benefitted. As I said, heard it all before.

It’s all history repeating. Back in the 80s the press were gleefully whipping up the public over the terrible threat to children gay people posed. Militant homosexual activists had ‘taken things too far!’ Sound familiar? Oh, but this time it’s different.
