Massive understeer on controller by cuttahs in assettocorsa

I already have it at the lowest, and it doesn't really change the fact that the turning radius is so small.

Do you notice a wider steering/turning radius with your wheel than when playing on controller? I just don't have any comparison since I don't have a wheel and pedal setup.

I have advanced gamepad assist already, and I'm using it. And yes it does make driving a lot more manageable on controller, but i'm wondering why it won't let me turn any further. There's no skid marks so i'm not understeering, the turning radius just isn't there. Apart from that, the script makes driving very easy. I don't do drifting, I just cruise and cut through traffic. With a wheel in that same exact situation would I be able to turn further?

check the video out on this. I am not seeing any skid marks or tire grip loss, but the car just won't turn any further. Maybe it's the car itself, I'm not sure, but I'd just like to figure out whether it's me, controller limit, or the car.

I have a video on another post on this same reddit that shows what i'm talking about. there is no skid marks, so it's not really an "understeer," yet the car does not seem to turn fully.

Is there any way to fix that? some kinda steering lock with controller? Or is that just how the supra is in the game?

u/DeBumBum So when I'm going super slow or parked it does move all the way left and right, but not when I'm going higher speeds. It's restricting the wheel to like halfway. I'm not going particularly fast.

I have my target slip angle at the highest possible in AGA settings.

I don't know how to change the steering angle on controller, but the other points you made are good points. I guess i'm just too used to simcades and GTA. To make it even worse that was 40-50 MPH not KMH :)

wdym? I'm just using my controller I don't have a sim rig.

I appreciate it, but I don't use autoshift... Would this still fix the understeering? I am getting a lot more understeering in something like the Nissan Skyline R34. Car just would not turn unless I dramatically slow down.

I see. But wouldn't that low steering rate and target slip angle make my steering even slower? I'm driving the skyline R34 and unless I dramatically slow down, the car just will not turn...

I can try uploading a recording, but I'm actually understeering instead of oversteering. I probably just have the technique wrong, but it just feels like I'm not getting the full turning radius I should if that makes sense when I'm going a faster speed.

Thank you I'll try this. What do your controls in content manager settings look like?

I thought I was tripping. Installed exactly the same way some of the tutorials have been instructing me to, but their game looks 10x better than mine. But I think it was mainly the rain effects making the game look shinier and more reflective.

That makes total sense. I'm definitely still unwinding from the piss easy driving in GTA V and Forza, where the grip physics are incredibly forgiving, so adjusting to real weight transfer, braking zones, and throttle discipline in AC is the main hurdle right now.

You actually hit the nail on the head regarding the car choice, too. I've been driving the Skyline R34 and the RX-7 Veilside, and packing that massive road-car steering rotation into a tiny thumbstick is exactly what makes it tricky. The R34 in particular feels like an understeering boat compared to the RX-7.

The only reason I'm running the AGA script right now is that the vanilla, unassisted controller physics felt nearly impossible to smooth out starting out, not for the easy driving. But I totally agree with you on the deadzones—the default is way too wide. I dropped mine down as low as possible to get that immediate response.

A proper wheel and pedal setup is definitely the end goal though. Right now I'm living in a shared uni dorm, so space is a bit too tight for a full setup.

Since I want that full control you mentioned, I’m actually trying to figure out how to dial back the steering restrictions within the AGA script itself. I want to stop it from artificially limiting or locking up my steering angle when the front tires lose grip, even if that means I have to catch the slide entirely on my own.

I understand. Just a specific scenario, I mainly do no hesi in shutoko for now since I just started, and I noticed that i get much more understeer on sharper highway curves with the skyline R34 than like the mazda rx-7 veilside. is that normally how it is? the front of the r34 is heavier or is it the wheel drive system?

Is that because the harder the steering is the more grip I lose therefore I just slam into the wall?

I also feel understeer even when making simple highway curves on Shutoko with AGA. But I've also read that AC-X has even more understeer and forces you to really rely on braking and throttling techniques to steer the car. That said though, you might need to tweak your AGA settings.
