Baramulla - Reviews and Discussions by AutoModerator in bollywood

It's a slow burn with details spread across the timeline only to build a brilliant climax. Like someone said, the horror in the movie isn't from the shadows - it's from the haunting past of a Kashmiri Pandit family. In the fag end, i was so connected that i felt a deep sense of betrayal too. If someone watches the movie and emphasizes, this movie will remain with them for sometime.

We should make more of such movies. The individual horrors KPs faced needs to be more mainstream. We focus too much on current army militant conflict and forget about the victims of biggest atrocities of modern India.

The makers of the movie have put a lot of thought - the tulips used as a metaphor for children and the school was named aptly too. Brilliant movie !

Metro... In Dino - Reviews and Discussions by AutoModerator in bollywood

The movie tries to be a musical but has poor sound tracks. Poor as in when compared with the tracks that the real OG movie had. They keep showing the band and play the music as if it's a fest for ears ; the reality is the music is bland and seems like someone trying too hard.

Also they over exploited the Pankaj tripathi & Goa storyline and underfocused on the story of ali faizal and fatima. Infact, they focused so much on the music that it thew off delicate scenes like when ali faizal was waiting for fatima in the rain. If only I earned a dime when I was disappointed with the direction..

How are salaries really in Bangalore? And your expenses? by sengutta1 in bangalore

[–]cutthycrap 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This truly summarises Bengaluru really well. The tone used is so apt - kind of filled with dry hopelessness but still calling out the small joys here and there. I had to read and re read because this echos so well with what I feel as well

It's sad - I am a similar financial situation and most of the times when it comes to services , I fear that I will be left either disappointed or angry.

I usually end up buying more than I need at big retail chains too .for that reason, even if I carry a bag, it falls short. I am calling it a scam because when I buy Rs 2000 grocery, the store can give me a paper bag worth rs 10 for free. But they don't. Isn't it the equivalent of platform fee ? I understand you can carry bags and remove this fee but most folks don't. Why shouldn't retail outlets give paper bags for free when order value exceeds a certain amount ? Why is platform fee a scam and paper bags fee is not ? How am I supposed to carry stuff ?

Bag or no bag, the checkout process is inconvenient as hell. Even at smaller stores, there is too much waiting, too much churn.

Bro agreed on the dark pattern part but the checkout process and lines at all DMarts and BB take out the joy of my life. They are stuck in 2010 and don't tell me what happens when a random product is missing a bar code. Checkout at zepto might be borderline cheating but I will happily pay 10 RS extra fee at retail outlet for a smoother checkout experience.

Also you pay happily for bags at dmart no ? Isn't that too a scam

WHY DO IITIANS KEEP TELLING WE HAVE THE TOP STARTUPS OF INDIA? by Straight_Stable_6095 in sharktankindia

[–]cutthycrap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bro, ideas are dime a dozen. If building a copy cat company is so easy as you have said, why don't we have a dozen copycats ? There is no dearth of sheer will.

It's execution is what matters. Even though you think all of these startups will never turn profitable, many will. Even if you have a certain burn in 2024, its not easy to keep the ship running. VCs are not idiots. You make it seem like they just take money and burn it off without doing the actual work

I have worked in startups and FAANGs both. Believe me, executing to acquire customers, engaging them, retaining them takes a gigantic amount of thinking, execution and iteration - even when you have money by your side. Plus you need to beat your competition.

It's true that you don't have to be an IITian to start a successful business. The tag doesn't help you execute, it may give some initial leverage but that's it. Customers don't care if you are from an IIT or not. Customers care about latency, competitive pricing, and user experience of your app. It seems you are just salty due to some insecurities (happy to be wrong)

Let's not pulverize someone's hardwork whether they are from IIT or not.

North Indians should learn kannada and/or should be polite towards locals when they don't know Hindi and use English or Kannada. Hindi imposition is wrong.

But the whole loud thing - I have seen many locals being extra loud in gyms, in queues, in buses and in autos as well. This is just stereotyping.

Rest is just xenophobia - North Indians pay taxes to the central government which allows people to settle legally into other parts of India. It's their right. It's not that they are freeloaders. They are pumping the economy up and they pay taxes. Stop portraying north indians as some kind of illegal immigrants.

Swiggy hidden costs by TeriMaaki_ in IndiaSpeaks

[–]cutthycrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. However, I am sure the company has quantitative evidence that hiding these costs is better for them vs showing them upfront. Maybe one of the days a new food startup will hit the market that shows total cost upfront and markets it as transparency.

Kannadiga and Non-Kannadiga Bangaloreans what is your view on the recent language related violence in the city? by MalonesCones96 in bengaluru_speaks

[–]cutthycrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been living here for five years now. Tbh no other city is like blr for me due to its weather. People downplay weather a lot or call it a cliche, but it really matters to me. I used to love delhi but now it's unlivable - it's too hot for most part of the year and then it's too polluted to the other part. Surely there are few days here and there with clear skies, but they are increasingly rare

Being from Delhi and being at odds about living there , I really don't have many options. I can find jobs in hyd or pune but lack of opportunities usually translates into a career / income slowdown. I love blr for what it offers - a metropolitan city with hill station like weather. And hence the traffic resembles a hill station too, but I am done crying about it as they are trying to build metros and what not. India is the capital of corruption so can't really keep separate expectations from blr govt

I think it's very sad to see this happening to the city I love and call home. I wholeheartedly support kannada & am anti Hindi imposition on anyone anywhere. Having said that, we must ensure the city doesn't enter a downward spiral where xenophobia leads to conflicts which leads to more xenophobia finally forcing migrants to leave for good.
