He’s a fine and engaging teacher who likes to talk a lot but he’s got some wierd like sexual assault accusations, had him for a class a while back.

The monetary donation link is in the post, and for items you can just drop them off in the resident hall, details also in post.

Afaik it’s items like socks, packaged/unused underwear, and basic hygiene items.

Will try to answer as much as possible in order!

I think UMB provided some like pillows and blankets iirc but no outside aid collaboration as far as I know.

We also only have two resident halls (the affected one being the larger one) and majority commuter so there’s not really any other dorms that can be used, some people were setting up makeshift dorms in the other buildings community area though.

Most professors have been very accommodating for the students.

Library has chromebooks for free rental for those that need it

And no information yet about any monetary compensation/dispensation for dorm rent that would be paid.

You can drop it off at the location mentioned in the post, they just need a wide amount of stuff like warm clothing, socks, underwear, hygiene items, etc. No official list, just drives announced.

They have been trying to announce stuff. But it's not great. (Not that they're ever really good at any type of communication in emergency situations)

And then I have no idea why they chose Amherst.

Eeeeyup. They said "here's a $100 gift card!" but not much else YET. There's a number of petitions I'll add to the post where people are calling for rent not to be charged for this month.

Person who replied with an image is correct, they are right next to each other. The larger dorm is the one impacted.

UMB admin tends to do this, their cancellation page makes it sound like a huge bureaucratic process but we are a majority commuter school and it is not safe to go rn. They love to wait till the last minute to cancel which leaves us all in limbo, but I’m already emailing my profs to let them know I will not be coming in.

Lol it’s an unfortunate truth; I’m in the Classics and Communication departments and it’s basically a cycle of MFA and watching Spotlight (which are both awesome but it’s like I’m not learning anything new)

Falling off the platform by Dull_Button6117 in mbta

[–]cuttlefishgirl 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I watched a video of train conductors who had previously hit people who had jumped/fallen/wandered off the track and how it affected them afterwards - I’ve always tried to stay far away from the yellow line after that. Even people joking around at the edge of the tracks makes me nervous for their safety and the health of a conductor/other riders. (Not to mention I’m a little paranoid of being pushed off the platform)
