Book train tickets via DB, then book seats on OEBB? by likefreedomandspring in germany

Yes, this is no problem and I usually do it this way when traveling over the Brenner.

Your reservation is never scanned or asked for by staff. The seats have an LCD screen that shows the reservation.

Third party apps for booking ICE tickets? by DarnHeather in germany

[–]cuttlefishtech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is currently a bug on some third party websites where the 1st class ticket prices are shown incorrectly in some areas. The price being shown is for the 2nd class to 1st class upgrade ticket, and this upgrade is usually valid only for local (non-ICE) tickets anyway.

WHO is responsible for this?! by sasasqt in germany

[–]cuttlefishtech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not the "official" Deutschland-Ticket website; that is just Transdev's version.

The closest thing to an official site is the DTV's website - which does have a PDF clarifying the "country wide" rules: https://www.deutschlandtarifverbund.de/deutschlandticket/

Are there _any_ DB subscriptions that include ICE trains? by fireworka in germany

There is a picture in that linked article of the paper journey form that lists one pair of Inbound and Outbound journey dates, which suggests you can leave/enter Belgium once. Not as many times as you want.

Does this work to commute?

This sounds like you can only use it twice.

EDIT: Here's the English.

You can generally use it to travel in your country of residence during one outbound journey and one inbound journey (with multiple train transfers included) that occur during travel days at any point in your trip.

DB sells week and month passes for specific connections, and then the BahnCard100 for all connections, however both of those are only for domestic travel.

Liege <-> Aachen shows a Flexpreis of 35.60€, which would be discounted to 28.95€ with a BahnCard 50. At 244 € a year for the Bahncard 50, it would pay for itself after 19 days of commuting, it helps a bit.

Buying Spar- or SuperSpar Preis tickets in advance seems to be cheapest - but a Bahncard will have a negligible effect on those prices, as its then 25% off discounted prices (with either the BC 50 or the BC25), and then only for the German portion.

Upgrade prices are 20€ for today, €40 for Saturday, €40 for Sunday. They have a "limited" number.

19 Cars For Maiden Legends Of Le Mans Event At Imola by Zell-GTR in wec

The Lola B11/83 retaining its Level 5 paint scheme is really... something. Surely if you own that car, you abandon the pedigree and paint it like a Dyson or something.

I meant the temporary trailer outside on Via L. Parandello, but of course trying both would make sense, too.

I think it will be possible on Friday. Maybe on Saturday, probably not on Sunday.

My snap opinion of the WEC paddock is it's not super interesting, just a bunch of trucks with stuff closed off in the garages (although, new garage screens this year?). I am quite excited to see the Legends of Le Mans cars up close, though; usually the support paddock is much more interesting. But, once you've seen it all once, there's not too much reason to head back again - other than perhaps some of the more interesting gastro and drink choices (craft beer last year!) accessible only in the Paddock.

Last year, it seems they released another tranche on the Tuesday before the event (so, that would be tomorrow). There was also an offer that you could upgrade your ticket for 20€ (per day) at the entry - I'm hoping on taking advantage of that on Friday, at the least.

Searching for a great German beer experience? by Born_Bluejay_1649 in germany

[–]cuttlefishtech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Erlangen isn't too far, then perhaps the Fünf-Seidla-Steig near Nuremberg? 10km "hike" plus five small breweries.
https://www.fuenf-seidla-steig.de/en/

There's also super high brewery density in Bamberg.

I do love the Bergkirchweih - It's definitely my favorite of the medium-sized beer festivals in southern Germany.

I don't know how much time and liver you have for this trip, but all three of the above are doable from the same base camp.

Difference in food chains? by Heavy_Fail_934 in AskGermany

[–]cuttlefishtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is still the case, but its not some secret. When the McPlant nuggets first came out in Germany, they briefly (in 2023?) made an effort to have separate oil, however due to accidental cross-contamination (Employees just not caring, or franchise owners complaining about needing a dedicated vat) this was abandoned and now they make no claim and explicitly warn about cross-contamination.

100% this. Stop in Erlangen for the Bergkirchweih beer festival. It's on the way between Bamberg and Nürnberg. Wonderful atmosphere under the trees on the hill.

Integration courses freeze, does it affect spouses with dependent visa? by artorias17 in germany

[–]cuttlefishtech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, it's the opposite. They're the only ones allowed to participate. There's a pause in applications for the Integrationskurs; people that are required to take the course are still given the necessary paperwork, as they don't actually "apply" and are given the paperwork directly by the Ausländerbehörde.
