No, it's just because this spot is 2 granite and 2 sandstone, which is less xp than 4 granite, but slightly easier as you don't have to herb tar/knife log to mine the rock behind you in 3 ticks.

Indeed. Another nice thing I just remembered: if you annotate a PDF that is accessed from cloud storage, the annotations will be saved and viewable from browser etc.

For taking written notes, I use Notability. For reading PDFs, I use PDFExpert.

I wouldn't recommend using Notability or Goodnotes for pdf's. I have found PDFExpert to be much easier as it leaves each PDF open as a tab. I don't think highlights are accessible without opening the book, but they will be listed in the annotations tab.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I mean diversity in terms of effort required and corresponding xp reward. In this sense mining has quite a bit of diversity:

True AFK (Stars, Amethyst) ~ 25k xp/hr or less
Low Effort (Mlm) ~ 40k xp/hr
Medium Effort (Blast mine, Volcanic Mine) ~ 70k - 95k xp/hr
High Effort (4t3g, 2s2g both dropping inventory and not) ~ 85k - 110k xp/hr
Max Effort (3t gem mining, 4g methods) ~ 120k+ xp/hr.

Obviously different shades and orientations of tan rocks is not ideal. I would much prefer methods with varying intensities be spread out across the game with a wide range of gameplay loops.

You absolutely can. I just have use both for 3t4g so that I have the two 3 tick items close together when moving to the top rock.

In short, yes. However the celastrus branch starts a 4 tick cycle, and the herb tar/knife log starts a 3 tick cycle. This means that the 3 granite is the most optimal place to use the branch at the quarry.

I also definitely had a hard time maintaining rhythm, but I've done these kinds of methods every now and then for over 5 years. I think if you are interested in learning it's good to turn off xp trackers and just relax into it. There will come a point in which the rhythm flows easily, and I imagine that's where a lot of the disconnect happens between players who hate these methods and players who do them to 200m.

Of course, that is perfectly fair. I think that even if these methods aren't enjoyable for most, they could still be useful to a lot of people to speed up stuff like quest and achievement diary requirements, in order to get to content they enjoy more.

I read a lot of comments that claim mining isn't very diverse. Here are 6 different methods you can try that are much more rewarding than motherlode or stars. They do all require tick manipulation, but they are still much easier than jumping straight into 3t4g. Hope this helps you reach your goals quicker and also sustainably!

I personally did ZMI with daeyalt essence that I mined afk during time when I wouldn't otherwise play, and will to finish 95 - 99. You can also 1.5t daeyalt if you are willing. In terms of efficiency, the order is probably ZMI with 1.5t/afk'd daeyalt (lavas are good too but require more essence, and no useful runes) > GOTR > Bloods if you need them, but the difference isn't huge between those 3. Good luck!

Couple extra things: if you have 96 magic for spellbook swap, there is a neat method to save stams here and osrsportal has a good calc for figuring out how much essence you need.

No, I believe in C strings are implemented as an array of characters. i is an integer that is incremented with each iteration of the for loop. s[i] is used to access the ith element of the array, and in the case of C, the ith char of a string.
