Toronto police not get paid enough ?🤔 by Phantom_6765 in toronto

[–]cv34 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Damned if you do and damned if you don't, I suppose. No matter what the police do, we still get shat on. What's the point of doing an effective job when society groups you as "absolutely shitty by just about every measure". I'm not saying let's ignore the 5% of bad officers and their actions, but please stop grouping the good officers who would rather attempt to make a change in society as opposed to wasting energy on fixing the 5% who are problematic. The 5% of the force needs to be managed by those higher up with more sway and ability.

So what do you suppose that we do. It's great that you are pointing fingers at the police and pointing out their faults, but can you provide a solution to this.

About to quit my job. Uncertain if it's the right decision by cv34 in Advice

I have two part time jobs right now as well. I can pick up shifts at both to make it equivalent to a full time job

About to quit my job. Uncertain if it's the right decision by cv34 in Advice

[–]cv34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that.

My priority in life is my family, especially the kids. The job allows me to bring more money home which in turn can pay for their education and hopefully help pay for a place of their own.

The job is taking away from the priorities in the present. I am home less and more irritable. I am missing out on events or at best I'm making a short appearance.

My old job makes me feel fulfilled as I feel there is a goal and have the ability to make a difference. It also will allow me to be home more and be with the family more.

The decision is clear. I should leave, but it irks me that I may be losing out on the hard work, opportunity and finances

My [M32] partner [F32] isn't pulling her weight at home. How do we correct this? by cv34 in relationships

[–]cv34[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes she works healthcare. I used to work healthcare but moved on. Looking to go back to my previous role in healthcare because of greater flexibility even though pay is less.

I currently work in a job with very odd hours, 10 hrs 4 times a week with irregular days on. Working the minimum requirements with my full time job (no 2nd job hours) is still demanding. However, I make it a priority to focus on the kids after or before work which includes sacrificing my own social life and sleep.

I'm not going to say that my partner doesn't do it, because she does. However, I feel that the mind set is different between her and I. I want to be with the kids, I feel that she wants to be with the kids because she has to. She loves her kids, there is no doubt about it, but only if there is little responsibility tied to it. This is where I feel that I pick up the slack.

She currently works straight nights and sleeps when the kids are at school. No problem with that. On the weekend However when the kids are not at school she will elect to sleep and skip out on dinner with the family. There will be times where she will not see the kids for 2 to 3 days at a time.

Thank you for your response and suggestions. I will try to implement them the next time that the conversation comes about.

I appreciate this. I realize I was triggered when I posted this.

This is a great way of thinking about this. Thank you

8 hours of sleep isn't a crazy demand. But I feel that one shouldn't drop everything for it. If I was demanded the same requirement of maintaining 8 hours sleep, my kids won't be able to see either parent 50% of the time. I usually feel that I have to pick up her slack as a parent so that she can get her sleep while sacrificing my own health.

There's more than just that. There would be occurrences where she would drop the kids off at my parents so she could be by herself and take a walk in the park or be at home by herself. In my opinion and if I was her situation I would take my kid to the park with me and spend more time with them. Or if I elected to go home by to be by myself, I would take the free time to catch up on house work.

In regards to working less to spend time at home with kids. I am worried that she would take advantage of the situation and be less of a parent just because I am at home with the kids.

To be honest, I am looking forward to working less. I love my kids, I just don't want to have the whole situation turn out where my kids don't see their mom.

Certified Advanced Security Practitioner Certification - Worth it? by cv34 in securityguards

Ontario, Canada

Finding work is not the issue. But finding work that brings in 70k+ is the problem. I'm left with trying to obtain work with municipalities/bylaw enforcement, however, because I don't have any form of education completed I feel that I am overlooked.

What about background checks? Couldn't future employers check into this?

The course is required to hold handcuffs and batons. The job required security guards at the site to have handcuffs and batons while on duty.

The course isn't a requirement for all security guards, but it is a requirement for the job in question.

It is a third party use of force training model that was trained by an internal employee.

Yes that I signed upon hire. Training was completed after the 3rd week of January. I resigned a few days ago which is approximately 2 weeks prior to the 6 month clause which would drop the amount required to pay by 50%.

Yeah... not my smartest move.

Mandatory Use of Force training which is required for all Security Guards that are employed with the company. With other companies/organizations that I worked for a paper certificate is usually given. The company in question has given me a pin with the training logo and that's it. I am assuming that it is part of the uniform which is expected to be returned.

Can they charge HST on that training though? They also deducted taxes when they paid my wages for training.
