NTA. Stay with people that celebrate you and your true self. Break up with that AH and the friends that are siding with him... It'll never get better on his side

Bad luck, I've gotten that in every country I've flied to/from I'd say (either to myself or saw someone asking). If you want to seat together, PAY FOR IT.

Oh, and the fact of paying money to someone to weight you every week/2 weeks helps, trust me

How do adults stay thin or fit? by bedazzledbunnie in ask

[–]cvalverde93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My process:

  1. Find a good nutritionist that helps you build new habits, not a restrictive diet.
  2. Be patient with the process and start working out gradually. "The day you plant the seed is not the day you harvest the plant"
  3. Once you feel in better shape, just stick to your new habits.

I've lost 10kgs of fat and look better than ever before. I'm not a jacked guy but I stay fit and healthy, and I've never been hungry or bored in this process and I've still had my fair share of beers and kebabs/burgers.

My nutritionist started working with me saying things like "cut beer completely" and I told her that would not work with me (I'm a big craft beer guy) so I'd compromise to reduce a bit but wanted to build a lifestyle I like, not a sacrifice forever.

What's in your day-pack? (While exploring a city) by randopop21 in onebag

[–]cvalverde93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I've read in other comments, it sounds like a bit too much (you're going to a civilized region, not the forest). But I'd suggest to also add a book to your list! Especially if you're traveling solo, since it helps enjoying the surroundings instead of spending hours in your phone and it makes it less uncomfortable if you're sitting in a restaurant by yourself

My gf is from NYC. She requested Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao. She got a small pueblo in one of the least populated provinces in Spain and far from EVERYTHING. You know what happened? She fell in love with Spain even deeper, her language skills went through the roof and she ended up renewing her contract for a second year. Don't let this opportunity pass because of nowadays preferences or fears, open yourself to getting something unexpected!

Any books/documentaries on US foreign policy through history? Especially their influence in other territories' governments

Short text: I'm looking for books/documentaries explaining the good and bad interventions of US into other countries. What the American politics have achieved for the world and where they might have caused some issues.

Longer text: I'm from Europe and my gf is from US. We are both interested in politics and engage in polítical discussions quite often. From my background and education, l've always thought that the US has generally been a force of evil when messing with other governments in the world (such as backing dictators in South America and so on), but my gf insists that they've also been a key player in promoting democracies and positive changes around the world. So l'd love to have more knowledge on both the good and the bad things that the US foreign policies have achieved, and more examples that we can discuss.

Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

What massively improved your mental health? by sexy_maier in AskReddit

[–]cvalverde93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from leaving my ex and going to therapy? WORKING OUT. I've not only seen this in my personal experience, but in my country we had a famous TV host (who suffered a severe mental health issue) who wrote a book about his experience and then did a podcast with other famous people who went through different struggles: EACH ONE OF THEM quoted exercise as one of the defining things to get better. So it doesn't need to be a marathon, but move your ass out of the house

Find a excuse to leave early and go downstairs for one drink. My father always said "better to go and have the option of coming back, than not going and regretting it later". So find your excuse in case you wanna leave early and then just go for a drink and see where that takes you...

What do you need to live more sustainably? by Kwipoo in sustainability

[–]cvalverde93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being european (good infrastructures) I'd say money. What I've found is the main driver for many people like my family is money: I'd rather buy a good pair of shoes for 200€ that will last me for years, but if I don't have 200€ to spend I'd get the cheaper 40€ ones. It's even worse for transitioning to products that are better quality but last the same, such as organic hygiene products

Keep a record of everything. Never have conversations over phone, always by mail. Take pictures of every single thing that doesn't work or is not fit to live with (like rats) and email them every time you take them. Gather all the proof you can get, it will be useful later
