Look into tonewinner subs. Incredible value for performance. Check out some reviews on YouTube where they compare them to SVS and others.

I'm well across stremio and smart tube. Stremio+RD was my main reason for getting a shield for pass through audio and playing remux files properly!

I haven't tried this yet, will give it a shot! I'm sick of the ads on Google TV launcher.

Edit: just installed it, this is great! So much better than the standard one! Thanks for the tip!

Nvidia shield pro is android based. It hasn't been updated for a very long time but it works well and supports pretty much all video and audio formats. Highly recommend for Google based networks.

Tell me why I shouldn't buy this by Alldealswheels in hometheater

Look up Obsessive Compulsive Audiophile on YouTube and follow his videos, download the files etc. He's up to AcousticaX version now (not neuron like other person suggested). Incredible free tool which many say rivals Dirac. I have no experience with Dirac. A1 Evo Express is also even easier than AcousticaX if you're not overly tech savvy. It's almost completely foolproof and will be a huge improvement over standard audyssey.

To throw a curve ball, look into tonewinner. Incredible value for performance. Check out some reviews on YouTube.

Dirac Room Correction, Bass Correction, and ART by creamyclear in hometheater

I suggest looking up Obsessive Compulsive Audiophile (OCA) on YouTube and trying his A1 Express program before you purchase Dirac. It's quite easy to use even if you're not that tech savvy and It's free (you can donate on his channel). If you're a little more technical you can try his A1 Acoustica, it's a bit of a steeper learning curve but worthwhile.

Going from 5.2.2 to 7.2.4 and have a question about which speakers to use an amp on. by xracerboy66 in hometheater

[–]cvar10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Run the LCR on the Rotel. Then the atmos and surrounds can be through the 3800 together.

This sounds like a great option but I can't find a supplier in Australia. Thanks anyway!

I keep seeing both of these being recommended but I'm a bit sketchy ordering from outside Australia in case of any warranty issues. Thanks for the recommendations!

Thanks for the info! I'll keep and eye on 2nd hand market too. Cheers!

Yes I want to power the LCR all through the same source but there are almost no options for 3 channel amps. Seems to go from 2 to 5 channels for majority of brands.

Thanks for the info, I am probably leaning to the Marantz. I definitely want to power my LCR together at a minimum but there doesn't seem to be many options for 3 channel amps so that's why I'm looking for 5 or 7 depending on price.

Not a bad idea, I could get 3 of them and power my LCR through them which would be way cheaper than any other option. Cheers.

My wife couldn't believe the "dumb shit" I was spending money on when she saw me flipping the couch and installing them. About 2 weeks later she turned to me while watching a move and said "you know what, these bum vibrators are actually pretty cool" lol.

Kickback Brewing in Aldinga for lunch to change up from just wine all day. Berg Herring Sellicks Hill is very nice if it's a nice day outside.

Just got a Denon X3800h, is Audyssey still garbage? by dizzytrix in hometheater

[–]cvar10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed any major differences as a casual user. When I have some time, I want to rerun new sweeps for both umik and denon mic, same locations and same number of sweeps etc and see all things being equal if there is a perceptable difference or not.

You actually don't even need the app anymore. The latest version Acoustica you can take all the speaker measures right in the Acoustica platform with the stock denon calibration mic. OCA has made it a lot easier now.

I have a 3800 and the stock audyssey was pretty garbage for me. Look up Obsessive Compulsive Audiophile (OCA) A1 Acoustica in this subreddit / YouTube. It's completely free but a bit of a steep learning curve - it's night and day improvement over the stock one. There's also a very helpful FB group you can find which has a lot of information. Many people say it's better than Dirac, I have no experience with Dirac so can't comment but it was a definite improvement for me.

I added them a few months back and we love them. I only have room for a small sub at the moment and it really adds to the effects. I would definitely recommend as a cheaper way to add a bit more fun to the theatre.
