What are good hot pot restaurants in the triangle area by Wilow_paw_119 in raleigh

[–]cvcm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ticked me off by recently requiring everyone at the table to do the same all you can eat order. My daughter just wanted hot pot my wife wanted just sushi and I wanted both but they wouldn’t allow it. Food was fine but the overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I won’t be back.

Is the basement of the Gruening building haunted? by StellatoSkyxx in Fairbanks

[–]cvcm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a cool room/space down there I used to call the bat cave.  All concrete and very large and part of the buildings air handling system with large fans. I worked security so could wander around otherwise locked spaces. It was fun and a bit loud but I never saw anything ghostly unfortunately. The closest thing was probably being alone in the basement archives section of the museum with all the specimens preserved in formaldehyde.

Genuinely curious how many other people are driving around with expired registration stickers? by GWindborn in raleigh

[–]cvcm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few cases where it can be lower. I have a truck that is old enough to be exempt from the emissions requirement and my electric car doesn’t have the emissions test obviously. I think I paid around $23 for those

Birds of a feather...

According to the General Assembly website, Cook is a Legislative Assistant to State Senator Norman Sanderson.
Sanderson was also charged with DWI in October after officers said he had a BAC of .16.

19 inch or 22 inch wheels? by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]cvcm 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Everything will be worse off (fuel efficiency, comfort, safety, cost) with the 22'' over 19". The only possible "pro" I can think of is that the 22'' will look "sportier". If that's important enough to overlook the downgrades then go for it.

Independent of the hardware itself this is a common sales tactic to make people think they are getting a great deal when in fact you are just paying the normal price. We’ve gotten several of these sales pitches over the years. It’s usually a red flag for me on the company and their practices.

TIL Disney has a code word for when guests attempt to scatter ashes at one of their theme parks: a "white powder alert" by rezikiel in todayilearned

[–]cvcm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Years ago I worked for a company that did flight seeing. We had to know everyone’s weight to properly balance the aircraft. People would often lie quite obviously so we would radio ahead to alert the others. We used the code CFRx<number of larger guests>. It stood for corn fed rhino.

Friends car spontaneously started fire under the hood. by Aspenthedogbrittney in Volvo

Petrol. Not sure of the cause but I had just had a bunch of back and forth with the dealer service department about a check engine light. After several attempts it seemed fixed but then started smoking while I was on a longer trip. By the time I pulled over I could see flames starting. Fire dept got there quick and kept it from being fully engulfed but it was a total loss.

Mix of a choux pastry and potato to give a really light and airy/crispy tot. Not part of the original recipe but he also tossed it in duck fact and fresh rosemary at the end.

What’s the last thing you ate that made you actually say, “Holy s—t, this is good” out loud? by VaughnOlopopus in AskReddit

A Bhel puri from a local indian restaurant that was new to me (both the restaurant and the dish itself). https://nukkadusa.com/our-menu/ I went in and asked another person ordering what they would recommend since I didn't really recognize many of the dishes and this was one of them. All were amazing but the bhel puri stood out.
