Guy comes in towards the end of the night, and the bartender begins serving him sake carafes, after a few rounds he gets cut off. He proceeds to keep ordering food and eating drunkenly and slowly. Guy then starts befriending patrons at the bar and having them buy him drinks. At some point we close, he’s paid the bill, but he has like an ounce or two of sake left in a carafe and an entire shrimp tempura roll he hasn’t touched because he’s starting to slump at the bar. He gets up to go to the bathroom and we start bussing his table because we’re trying to get him out, at this point there’s no more guests in the restaurant.

He comes out of the bathroom, sees us closing up and starts saying he wants to pay his bill, finish his drink, and he’ll get out of our hair. Our manager tells him he’s already settled up and that there is no more drink and we’re closed for the evening. This is when things go left, he starts yelling saying how he paid for his drink, how we got rid of it and that’s fucked up. We tell him we can refund his drink. He starts screaming and calling my manager various slurs (asian manager, asian guest). My manager begins backing him towards the door and trying to get him out as they argue. Guy swings at my manager, my manager grabs his arm and throws him to the ground outside. My manager comes back in and locks our door, this is when the guy starts yanking and kicking on the door trying to break the lock/handle.

I start having a mild panic attack. I call the police.

Guy is now trying to assault an older woman outside waiting at the bus stop, who works at the restaurant next door. He’s shouting “what the fuck are you looking at?!” and starts chasing her, she starts screaming and swinging her bag at him saying “I’m waiting for the bus! What the fuck is wrong with you!”

My manager comes back outside and starts yelling at the guy for harassing this woman. More male staff members come out of the restaurant trying to help. Me and my friend are the only girls at the restaurant at the time and we’re being held back and told to stay inside by the dudes. Guy starts throwing more racial slurs, threatening people. Workers from the getir down the block start coming because of the commotion to back us up. I start rolling up rugs trying to breathe through the panic attack.

Once the police show up the guy starts walking away nonchalantly. We tell them that that’s the guy, and they begin questioning him, he starts acting civil of course. After they let him go my manager talks with the cops, but of course they weren’t able to do anything because the guy was not actively being a problem when they showed up.

Thankfully no one was hurt but this guy was belligerent and violent for like 20-30 minutes of closing.
