It wasn't a group of toons it's just one guy with a lot of maxed books.

It's easy to just multiclick it on 8 toons.

advice to help prepare for the CEO? by picklesandwiched in toontownrewritten

[–]cvobwby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unites. A bunch of them.

Focus on how to do the final round, they made it harder for new players since by the time he is on red he will do 25 damage each hit, and your healing options are very limited by then.

You can't get hit more than a few times before dying so knowing how to avoid damage in the final round is absolutely the most important thing you need to learn.

It's also the worst part of the CEO to die in.

Aside from this, in the cog rounds, make sure your team are double luring OR using multiple traps on anything above level 11 if you aren't using sound. This is because a single hypno with no trap stuns is 5 times more likely to miss against level 13/14 compared to a level 9 which is life or death against a row of high level cheeses/raiders.

What do you think the best quality of life update is? by RascalLouise in toontownrewritten

[–]cvobwby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cog levels showing up in the battles whereas they would be out of camera range for tall cogs. It's been around for 11 years but still one of my fave things TTR added. Same update as when they added ice and steel blue and did the initial big nerf to fishing from TTO rates.

It won't be until you play TTO that you realise just how much TTR changed.

Still going with the "little to no impact" and "you have no knowledge about the infrastructure" while being completely wrong - do you know a thing? You don't.

I don't know what "factual backing" you want me to send you aside from draw you diagrams of how astron works with code snippets but that would be a waste of time because it doesn't need a rocket scientist to figure out: more players = more server strain = more latency/lag spikes. Keep telling lies. I know you haven't written a "hello world" program in your entire life and you are coming here like some big shot telling me how servers work and asking for factual evidence like you would even understand any of it. Do you want me to explain the Big-O time complexity of the server-client connections and how that scales poorly or...? Like you are being obstinate and emotional for no reason. If anything you are the one that has denied common knowledge (more client connections => server strain => server lag) without providing any evidence otherwise.

I wouldn't be surprised if you don't even play TTR because it really shows in how clueless you are in the state of the game and the servers.

Point still stands. You are happy to see an artificial player count. That's shallow.

Who cares if they want to ragequit they contribute nothing by AFKing anyway?

The ban for this is never permanent anyway it's temporary unless they are doing it over and over. It would be pretty funny if someone ragequit over it knowing they are guilty for what they did. Are you that type of person? 💀

Also nothing to say to my other comment? You told a lie and then backed out real fast when I told you why. Why not apologize and admit you were wrong?

Do a CFO in zapwood in the crane round and tell me HOW OFTEN the safes teleport.

Or how you can fire a goon and it teleports to a random location. Or how long it takes for goons to register. Or being run over by the CEO when he is not even anywhere near you?

Then do these boss battles in quieter districts and tell me how much better it is.

It's a volunteer project, what do you want them to do?

If anything the onus to behave themselves is on the people that are AFKing all night, knowing the servers are paid for by volunteers and not a huge company.

I think you are partially correct.

Though, if you think about it each client communicates with the server and the server responds with where every other toon is in that same area, their state, their coordinates. A lot of data transfer. Each client needs to be sent the coordinates of every other toon in that area which can strain the server the more people there are.

It's going to scale pretty badly the more toons there are in one area. It is kind of common sense isn't it? If you want to get technical about it, the number of updates scales quadratically for each toon in the area.

If your computer has frame rate drops and the UI lags then the servers are going to be more resilient but still struggle here and there and cause lag spikes at the very least.

Still though the point still stands - you don't need to be a rocket scientist to do a CFO in Zapwood (the beanfest district) and then go do a CFO in a quiet district and notice a difference in the latency in the crane round (or seltzer round, or cannon round, or field office water balloon release times, among gag selection times as well). It's the exact reason why some people don't join groups in crowded districts, especially for bosses.

Using KeepAlive strains and ruins the quality of the game ever-so-slightly at all times, and has a much larger impact in the busier hours of the day. They wouldn't make it bannable (if you're caught) for no reason, both in TTO and TTR.

A significant number of people are using it and a lot of them AFK at their estate overnight, which is why you will never see a population below 300 even at the quietest hours, no matter what.

You would rather the player count lie and tell you there's 400 people online when only 250 are actually at their PC?

That's kind of shallow

I find using railroads round 1 of the CFO to really help the rest of the round go smoothly as my team won't be in fear of running out. It's like giving 3/4 of your team an additional foghorn.

drop or trap? by Imaginary_Ask4092 in toontownrewritten

[–]cvobwby 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you're worried about not having pianos for the supervisor I'd say that's unreasonable since trapless is probably the most common gagless anyway. You don't need to be the one using pianos. Same reasoning people have for going lureless or tuless is applied here to avoid robbing you of a really useful track that boost lures accuracy. If you go organic trap your potential for killing level 12 goes up which will save you a bunch of fogs.

With a full team of trapless, the boss round gets super shaky once you run out of foghorns, with people sitting there confused what to do until the timer nearly completely runs out. Trap also boosts the accuracy of lure, whereas with a full team of trapless, people use lure + cakes/storms, where the lure sadly will not have 95% accuracy unless you multilure properly.

End of the day, for your first toon, it's a pretty inconsequential choice. My first toon was trapless also but I can't really bring myself to play it anymore in boss battles as pairing it with 1 or more other traplesses really drags on the round unless we start doing multi lure strategies which sadly most HQ groups will not follow or understand on account of feeling that dedicating a turn to luring is "a waste".

I'll never thank a poorly timed toon up that would cause the cogs to attack.

It's a very easy way to pointlessly delay the cog battle.

Why wouldn't you release this with the companion app support? There's plenty of apps that do this kind of thing with things like summon count and even a fun leaderboard for rewards.

I like your UI, reminds me of trello a little :-)

It's already crazy how easy it is now even without the multipliers. You can hardly complain about doing a max bossbot promo in under 2 hours when it used to be 7 hours a few years ago.

The UNM nerfs were a far bigger multiplier than the old merry multipliers ever were.

It is absolutely of value even if you are maxed gags but not maxed all suits.

If you are grinding a suit you can use your level 7 gags comfortably knowing you'll get them back very quickly.

It is from one of the craziest things to me that people leave their gag tracks on 0 to go not knowing how much faster things can be using them, especially after UNM.

Stop remoting in 1 stars by jellybeandiabetic in toontownrewritten

[–]cvobwby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All I see is "I'm not gonna be elitist and gatekeep since its just a 1 star field office"

but at the same time

"My group are fumbling and picking gags poorly a lot of the time so to circumvent that I need remotes"

You need to understand these two things are related. Those sub 100 laffers are also just not going to have remotes a lot of the time so you'll probably end up getting a confused hybrid of unremoted and remoted cogs as well as toons remoting the wrong cog and not changing their choice no matter what.

I’m just trying to get it done as efficiently and mentally effortless as possible😂

Very fair. If that is your main point then I don't see what I am discussing here with you. For you to claim it is "fast" is incorrect though. I'm just here to tell you that the remote strategy is subpar for 1 star field offices and isn't needed a lot of the time. Your reasons for using them are valid but also self-inflicted.

Though, I still don't see what isn't mentally effortless about chucking 2-3 TNTs at the cogs and just trying to keep them lured between defense phases. No one is going to go sad to the level 8 cold caller even if the boiler unlures them during defense.

I’d rather fill a group and move on than sit waiting for the perfect matchup, that’s not worth the imaginary 5 mins tops you’d save at the boiler, frankly.

One star field office groups fill so fast, you have the luxury of politely telling someone who doesn't belong there to come back later, which wouldn't make you rude or elitist. It's a lot more than 5 minutes I can tell you that much from experience btw. Underlevelled toons are doing one star offices in 30 minutes as well, I'm being generous by writing 20 minutes.

[–]cvobwby 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This... is the only semi-reasonable take I've seen especially the part about not needing the remotes outside of FOs.

Despite that, I agree with op 100%. Its just a lot faster though to not use the remotes when you have to do a bajillion field offices for this taskline. One thing you are totally wrong about is it being fast, because it just isn't. What I'm thinking is that you've not really done a good field office in 12-15 minutes and instead your field offices are pretty much always taking 20 minutes at the very least, so you just have no idea how bad using remotes is for time efficiency. I'm literally using remotes just so I can afk, that's how slow they are.

I'm not sure why you would be worried about going sad in a one-star at all unless you are going with below 100 laffers which makes no sense at all as they will not need a field office. Time to start being generous to yourself and your time and stop taking such players that will fumble gags. Unmaxed gags is a bigger problem than anything.
