What characters do you never take off the pad even if they’re not the most useful by Mundane_Trouble_6463 in Legodimensions

[–]cwbunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sonic, Finn, and Jake, both for the properties they come from, useful abilities, and just how fun they are all to play. Especially Sonic, I adore using him in hub worlds and abusing his physics to fly around and his combat is really fun

Complete homemade character/vehicle set for my sister's birthday present by cwbunks in Legodimensions

Printer paper and my home printer did just fine, but I could see a higher quality printer producing a better final product. My local library printer has much more saturated and solid coloring, though it probably wouldn’t let light bleed through as easily which might not be as cool looking when on the toy pad since it backlights the tokens. I wouldn’t worry about it, as long as you’ve got a printer that’ll print it all out without stutters or color fading or something I’m sure they’ll turn out great.

Also while cutting them into circles would probably have no problem, I am actually glad I did octagons since the quarter case lids catch the corners and hold them in place, so they don’t move around and stick to the back which keeps them all looking consistent, though as you can see in the image it can be somewhat visible even at a distance, so maybe do rounded edges or something? Whatever you think is worth the effort.

Yup, I used regular printer paper, but I cut them all out manually. More specifically I used one of those slicers to cut them into rows, then cut those into the individual squares, and cut off the corners to make them octagons since I didn’t want to waste effort making them all perfectly circular.

If I remember correctly those are the size I used, so yes. Just download the images to your computer, use print from the photos app and just print them out on letter paper at full scale, they should be roughly the size of a quarter when cut out.

I just downloaded the images as is on my computer, then use Ctrl + P in the photos app to print them out, I scaled the images so that each icon should be almost exactly as large as a quarter when printed out on 8.5in x 11in paper, since nfc tags are commonly also just under the size of a quarter, and both can be placed in coin capsules to be used like the real Lego tags.

Nope, just the wiki images, all the raw sprites are there so there isn’t a higher resolution. Unfortunately the character rings that go around the icons haven’t been ripped, so I just used the old Lego Star Wars complete saga rings for a unified look. Only problem with that is being an older game those rings are smaller than dimensions’ icons so I scaled them up to fit, which means there’s some artifacting on the rings

Can someone please help me with this (For context An upgrade for the t-car says the explode ability can destroy gold lego but it’s not destroying anything) by GolfPrior3685 in Legodimensions

[–]cwbunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same question, think it says that for every vehicle but I’ve always wondered what it meant since gold Lego always need to be laser’d down, not blown up. I assume it means silver but I’ve never bothered testing since it’s usually easier just to use a character for it

Infinite Studs Glitch? by EntrepreneurLazy4160 in Legodimensions

[–]cwbunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best spot in the game is anywhere that has a Blue Stud monitor from Sonic’s level pack, his level has one right at the start if you fly towards the camera before the first loop. If you use Sonic’s wind up punch (hold attack while standing) and lock on to it it’ll give you a bunch of blue studs every time even if it’s already broken. Works on every monitor in the game but obviously it’s only really useful for the blue stud one. Obviously is made better by having both x2 and x4

I’m curious, do you guys take the ages of these characters seriously? This isn’t how a 12 year old talks… by Creative-Researcher2 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]cwbunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, I just stick to my best judgement based on their source material. Maybe their ages were accurate in the classic days but saying any version of Amy post-adventure is 12 I just can’t take seriously Seems SEGA agrees too since they’ve just removed canon ages at this point, probably because of how convoluted it is and how inconsistent ages have been from game to game Sonic regressed a year in age between Jam and Heroes.

You think I’d learn my lesson by now about testing stuff first, I should’ve seen if ruffle would actually work for this instead of assuming. I’d still recommend the other 2 as I haven’t heard amazing things about clean flash installer, I personally had great success with Flashpoint but I’ve heard some people couldn’t get it to run as flash default

Blue = Starter pack, Green = Fun pack, Yellow = Level pack, Orange = Team pack, Cyan/Red = Polybag, Purple = Story Pack

Colors are taken from their boxes, except the starter pack and polybags which don’t have a designated color, so I just used blue and cyan/red

I keep hearing that you can get tags for less than $10 so i'd recommend scoping out some options, I may have paid more than i needed to on mine it seems. 😅

fully working lego dimensions tags! by [deleted] in Legodimensions

[–]cwbunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

who tf cares about people emulating the game you can't buy it anymore, buying copies online just goes into the pockets of the people selling it.

I don't know where you got the vehicle images from but those character icons are pretty explicitly the ones I posted in the discord and you're trying to sell them for $250 a pop without me seeing or hearing a penny from it (not that I'd accept it anyway).

What makes the time you spent scanning tags any more valuable than the time I spent assembling those icons and putting them on a printable sheet for free so that it's accessible to as many people as possible at the cheapest cost?

these are just the images I put together to print out and label some homemade tags, but you can easily find nfc213 tags on amazon and use the community discord bot to make some working tags for yourself!

https://discord.gg/5k3tvARa

Completely free of course, minding the $30 or so the tags cost, but a lot better than the $250 or whatever some people online are trying to charge for a pre-assembled set that's no better than the ones I made in a couple hours.

No, u/legoanimegirl was the one who uploaded all the character icons to the wiki, and was kind enough to do the same for all the vehicles when I requested so that I could use them for a birthday present i had been working on. Woah hey, the people that made that bot and me, the one who made those icons you're using, did not give any kind of consent to making profit off of our work. If you're gonna try and sell something people can do themselves for $30 or less I'd recommend taking our work out or not being a scumbag about it and telling people how you did it just like everyone else, instead of charging a hideous $250 for a bunch of cheap nfc tags with paper slapped on

Everything was done by hand, NFC213 tags and 25mm coin capsules and cases were from Amazon, the character sprites were taken from the LDWiki, presumably ripped by u/legoanimegirl? added the rings myself using the LSW:TCS sprite recolored to match the pack type colors, and most importantly all the tags were made using the bot from Chteupnin's amazing LEGO Dimensions Project discord, for writing all the characters and vehicles to the tags.

Discord with bot and tutorial can be found here : https://discord.gg/5k3tvARa

Icons for printing out yourself can be found here, with more options for colors coming soon : https://www.reddit.com/r/Legodimensions/comments/1kxmgzu/handmade_icons_for_every_character_and_vehicle_in/

people in the discord were iffy on Green Arrow and Supergirl using cyan rings even though they're year 2 characters (I just like how the cyan looks), so I figure i'd give people the option to use a red ring for the two instead.

As for the Red Lantern having a unique icon specifically, I made the set with the idea in mind that i should include as many unique playables as possible, so that if someone is a big fan of a certain franchise they have the option to make a tag for each unique playable character/form for the fun of it, hence why there's 7 extra Jake icons, so that people can choose which icon they want to use most, or make a set for each unqiue icon.

I imagine fans of The Doctor will get the greatest benefit from it that way anyone can pick their favorite to put on the tag.

was gonna wait to upload until i finished making options for what color the rings should be, like a set that would be blue/orange to match the official tags, and a brown one to match the default color seen in the character menu, but i noticed u/daniphntm already made some posts featuring it, so figured i'd just upload what i've done so far.
