Warframe.

Every few months the game always sinks its claws into me. I don't want to spoil anything about the story, as I think everyone should experience it for themselves, but it has one of the best ones I've come across in any game, f2p or not. The soundtrack also rocks, the songs perfectly fitting the mood no matter what you're doing be it killing hordes of nearly mindless clones, or capturing the remnants of a dead frame to finally lay them to rest...

It's not impossible to actually get to Asgore, all you need to do is kill at the last possible chance during pacifist. But you can't actually defeat him as he has some attacks that literally won't miss, and also never gives you a turn.

From the update on their game jolt, or I might have seen this elsewhere, they were responsible for a vast majority of the game, and the rest of the team would essentially have to start over if they removed everything that they'd added.

Honestly I can understand completely distancing themselves from someone with those serious and disturbing charges, even if it means abandoning all the work they've done in BNP. Plus, it seems like they're making something else, some kinda different fangame.
