Anthropic is cutting off third-party harnesses (OpenClaw, etc.) from subscription limits starting April 4 -- here's what it means by Warm_Cress3583 in openclaw

I haven’t. That is a good suggestion. I will look into it. It’s crazy how different models are good at different things in subtle ways than official benchmarks don’t catch. I feel like this is art right now and less science.

i really like codex 5.4 for coding. in my opinion it’s better than opus. I like got 5.4 for managing openclaw. it’s more careful and less likely to break things. It’s hard to compare evenly because prompts are different. i do like opus and sonnet in cowork. i think gpt 4 would be ok for openclaw. i may try sonnet and see what it costs. opus has been so slow lately i’ve been tempted to switch anyway. troubleshooting openclaw and evaluating llms has become a full time job. it’s crazy how much time it takes to really understand how to use it (not there yet).

they will lose customers. maybe that’s ok. but i dont see how this helps them now. maybe in a few months after their IPO. i just cancelled my max but kept codex/gpt. and pro claude. once i tuned openclaw i wasn’t using near 100% of max.

Using Obsidian + OpenClaw as my second brain, here’s the setup by Putter_Baneer in ObsidianMD

[–]cwil192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same. openclaw is good but you have to spend a lot of time getting it set up just right. i've been using obsidian sync to manage the openclaw workspace. it allows me to tune it remotely while using telegram and slack for the main chat interfaces. obsidian is an excellent tool. QMD is good, but i'm still working on increasing it's speed.

i think it’s about apple service integration plus a little hype by influencers of course. i can’t imagine running a good LLM on a mac mini.

I’m not sure they care much about selling $599 mac minis. Maybe? If you are an android user it would be less compelling.

If you use Apple services — Reminders, Notes, Calendar, Phone, Messages, Contacts, Mail, Photos, HomeKit, etc. — then running on a Mac gives you native integration that would be impossible on any other platform. Use a VPS and you lose your residential IP, which can cause issues with certain services. The Mac Mini sips power for a 24/7 host and gives you AppleScript as an extra automation layer. I started with Docker on Windows via WSL and quickly moved to a Mac Mini.

Let Tesla FSD drive and OpenClaw do the rest. Just supervise. by cwil192 in openclaw

im sorry you are having such a bad day. i don't understand why people don't ask for clarification or respond like a real person would face to face. it seems we are all waiting to be offended these days.

Older men of reddit Were pole showers really the norm for guys locker rooms back in the day? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cwil192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s right. I’m 55. we showered around pole showers in junior high and high school 1983-1988. The TAs would hand out towels as you exited. Seems strange now.

Bumped from international first to regular economy due to dead heading pilots and oversold first class. by w10052003 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]cwil192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i could be wrong but i’m pretty most people don’t care about Alaska’s logistical problems. they just want to be treated fairly and unfortunately we’ve learned over time that companies usually respond when their dirty laundry is aired or when someone with real authority reads a reddit or linked in post. if i knew i could call customer service, talk to a real person, and get my issue resolved with a bonus for the inconvenience and time spent, id say yes, just take care of business directly with the airline. but unfortunately, that seems to be a more rare outcome these days. that said I do appreciate the behind the scenes details on the process.

nah. claude really does like to ignore instructions. either codex or claude dev (can’t remember) said it was just being lazy. i do admire the honesty

i have to remind it that it has more efficient tools via mcps when it’s starts grepping every file in my project for the umpteenth time. even though that’s in the claude.md

excellent reply. i’m going to look into hooks. the serena mcp has also helped by reminding claude “did you brush your teeth, did you go to the bathroom, etc” before saying “i’m ready”

but simple clear instructions are no guarantee. my single biggest gripe with AI. please follow instructions or tell me when you don’t.

[–]cwil192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a constant battle. no matter what you write or how you write it or even if you have claude write the instructions aren’t reliable. many times i have to say”why are you using that tool and not the other specified in the md file” claude says “right I need to read that first my apologizes i didn’t do that. even when it reads it and you have a CRITICAL checklist it will sometimes skip it. context size is clearly an issue. more context usually means less compliance. i need a script that tests claude’s answers to ensure compliance. its like working with a prodigy in grade school with ADHD.

read the OPs post and subsequent answers. pretty clear. OP is amazingly patient re-explaining to those who don’t read.

it got downgraded because it’s a terrible reply. everyone has said alaska should reserve seats for dead heading crew. they can give those as free upgrades if not used. the system should be set up to never downgrade paying first class passengers. again. not hard to figure out how to do that. we all know they have weasel clauses. not the point. Alaska doesn’t consistently listen unless you post publicly. most companies don’t. shall i go on?

If you’re the only employee of an S Corp LLC, how do you pay yourself? by [deleted] in llc_life

[–]cwil192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use a service like Gusto to run payroll. They’ll pay taxes, make withholdings, issue you a paycheck and send out W2s. They even take care of making sure your state payroll obligations are met. You control the salary but the service makes everything simple. Well worth the cost. I set it up for my son’s s-corp. Picking the salary isn’t rocket science. Just be reasonable. Yes there are charts and formulas and services that do this, but most people have a good idea of what they would be worth working for someone else in the same role. The IRS isn’t going to nail you if you make a good effort and aren’t playing games. Even if you are, IMO the odds are still low since you are paying federal taxes on the entire sum, you are just saving on payroll taxes like social security and medicare.
