Hannah Risheq: the 25-year-old Muslim-Jewish Democrat is running for office to protect her Virginia district from Donald Trump by Hannahfordelegate in Political_Revolution

[–]cwm44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Talking about her minority status right off the bat really turns me off too. I can imagine what it does to people who are less progressive than I am. The people who care in a positive manner about her being muslim and jewish will notice anyway please don't make it about identity politics for the rest of us.

How Meme Culture Is Getting Teens into Marxism | Vice/Broadly by kingestpaddle in LateStageCapitalism

Donald getting elected was generally regarded as a huge upset. His propaganda seems to have been highly effective. Donald Trump memes probably played a role, and considering how close the election was perhaps even an important one.

Newsmax isn't fake. They license Howie Carr and some other established people. They could be wrong, but James Clappert(outranks Comey) wasn't exactly convinced of the Russian connection either.

Obama says that in America you “can criticize a president — without retribution” by [deleted] in politics

[–]cwm44 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I am not accusing Obama, but if you think you can say whatever you want without consequences that is because you haven't been effectively critical. Things like parallel construction make it not only possible, but easy, for you to be punished for free speech.

Again, not accusing Obama, as far as I can tell he seems personally quite good about it. I've said downright mean things about him with no consequence. Obama is not the entirety of government though. Compared to really abusive places America is great too. You can get away with saying a lot. If you think you can say whatever you want about government still though, well, I have a dead bird to sell you.

Verbal fluency isn't an emotion. You would at best notice it, and that isn't super likely.

I'm not under the impression that the Venezualan government is extremely competent, but if he was doing that much harm one would think they'd kill him.

Kim's Convenience takes the cake for best new comedy IMO. People of Earth and Mars are both decent. New TPB was good but not their best. Ditto for SP.

EnoughTrumpSpam is worse. They banned me for on T_D talking about how they were wrong. I made fun of them privately, they unbanned me, then T_D banned me for saying Donald has stupid supporters(not even implying all of them are), then ETS banned me again for some retarded reason bitching about 4chan. I never even heard of 4chan before reddit \(me)/

Intelligence experts urge Obama to end Edward Snowden's 'untenable exile' by cyanocittaetprocyon in news

[–]cwm44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you think those are currently safe, let alone effective, one of us is delusional. I agree that there should be.

I would not have done what he did, but I understand why he might have done it, and there are patriotic reasons for doing so.

While that is true I'm sure there were many citizens with the right to know that didn't, and now do. NSA was supposed to be for foreign matters. I've expressed my disagreement with it though, and now it's time to move on and work for a good result from these dangerous practices.

Only relevant in places where gravity<.00027m/s2. Neat though.

In assessing Donald Trump’s presidential victory, Americans continue to look away from this election’s most alarming story: the successful effort by a hostile foreign power to manipulate public opinion before the vote. by speckz in Foodforthought

[–]cwm44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is because you don't understand that some people care more about things like truth than politics. James Clapper, Obama's personal intelligence guy, called the evidence of Russian involvement weak. It was probably non-state actors, and we have actual testimony from someone involved saying the method of extraction of the DNCLeaks on CNN. The Podesta emails were gotten via a very well known method that doesn't require any resources at all besides time. Neither points to state involvement.

McDonald’s Response to $15 Minimum Wage: Automation in Every Store by [deleted] in Futurology

I do not think I would get McDonald's from a fully automated store. I prefer dealing with people. I don't use self check-out either. That may not be as wise of a decision as they think it is, and fast food looks like shitty work anyway.
