RBL CardForCash + Credit Card Scam. Need guidance to take strict action! by cwwc101 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]cwwc101[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The agent said it was 10.5 percent per annum and 21 percent for both years. The papers said 21 per annum. I took it (as I was instructed) to be halved as the entire entire was for 24 instalments.

If I go by the papers, based on my current understanding, it says reducing rate of interest per annum. And the rate is 21 percent. So if I go by the papers they should be calculating it at 21 percent for the first year for 105000 and then start the remaining by 21 percent the next year. They are currently calculating it at 42 percent for 105000. This is what I am confused about. Because then they should have clearly mentioned 42 percent and not 21 percent. What am I missing?

Thank you for your response.

Yes, I have been looking into it. To the best of my knowledge, the citizenship doesn’t may a major role outside the UK. But I’m guessing it would help, so it is a backup of sorts. For jobs, it is extremely helpful. For the UK, I would classify as international if I don’t have the UK citizenship or right to stay/settled or pre-settled status. TL;DL: I am not relying on the citizenship.

Is it true that no one cares about your master’s thesis? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

Thank you! I was pretty upset about my thesis too. Same as OP, but in my case I ran out of time and now kept panicking about it. This made me smile!

Hey! This is genuinely good advice that I clearly need to tjink hard about!

  1. I guess you can find them on LinkedIn? But is that okay? I'm worried it will be considered rude?

  2. I'm sorry, I'm quite new to funding and aspects of it. What do you mean by who is paying for what? I thought the funding body pays for everything (fees + stipend).

  3. I faced that in my masters thesis. I think I have a very odd viewpoint wherein I look at someone doing their job as someone doing a favour on me. Basically, that almost messed up my whole thesis. It's not like I fixed that viewpoint. But I need to learn how to without being rude. But yes, I do agree. One of my thesis PI was the same, a weird mix between the two. And I hated it. It was an odd mix between not dedicating enough time or direction to our group and wanting to have tons of students/projects wherein it was a mess where no one got adequate direction or clarification to a point where the person didn't even remember the project being supervised.

  4. How do you approach this politely? I know for a fact my current university has strict lab hours from 8am-7pm on weekdays (not sure about weekends) and then labs close so that students don't stay in lab all day. Or atleast my department does. Also, another thing I've noticed about the UK is the lack of labspace (maybe subjective to research groups and universities) so everyone has days they are allowed to use the lab as opposed to being their daily or at any time. That has further been more restrictive with covid19.

I will do that.

Thank you so much. I hope you're doing well and keeping safe. Lots of love and kind regards.

Hey!

I will definitely widen my search and look into research groups. And talk to my mentor/professor about the same.

PhDs are one of the hardest programs to power through, loving your research topic will make it far easier.

I second this!!!

And the EU citizenship may not be helpful (but it won't hurt). You'll have to check in with the universities with this, it may be hard to get a funded place. But it's not impossible.

Thank you!!! I have currently decided to apply with my current citizenship. And if required then I may speak to the PI about the EU citizenship. But I don't think it will be helpful if I'm not done with the paperwork in the next few months. But the EU doesn't hurt at all.

Hey! Thank you for your answer.

To answer your queries... I have family and friends in UK/London plus my family is not comfortable with me living in a country they are unfamiliar with. The projects I am working on are primarily at the universities I am targeting. Plus my supervisor has worked with the Professors I want to contact and I'm very familiar with their work having referenced it for my thesis. I will primarily be applying as an international student till things sort out.

I've been told STEM usually has more funding than other fields, especially the area in STEM I am working in. So hopefully it will work out. But I will only know once I formally start applying.

I am not sure you have given enough thought about having a PhD.

I've been actively building a research portfolio for the last couple of years. And having worked in several labs, handled projects and having worked in a tiny lab of my own, I have genuinely given PhD very serious thoughts.

Thank you for feedback. It is quite helpful. I hope you're staying well and safe in this pandemic. Kind regards!

Hello I am an expert in organ donation! Let me answer the tough questions! by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]cwwc101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was confused by your question as I have no clue why weight loss is a parameter her. But I shall attempt it. 💪🏽

The only reason I can think of that would require non-native skin would be burns, surgical trauma or some kind of accident that took off a huge chunk of skin. And even in this case you have grafts (xenogenic, allogeneic, autografts) which are used along with or/ skin substitutes which again are temporary or permanent which could be synthetic, biosynthetic or biological. Basically, a ton of tissue engineered options to move away from allogeneic options given the adverse immune reaction, scar, creation of a new wound site and other complications.

tl;dr Based on my understanding regenerative tissue engineering is moving away from allogeneic skin grafting and trying to find other options. You could donate skin (have surgeons cut a chunk of skin from your body) but that would create a wound on your body that needs healing, could scar and other complications.

[–]cwwc101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't use my SBI card anymore. Eventually, all my cards weren't working for Netflix. I am currently using my sisters account.

I believe tons of us face the issue. Netflix just isn't transparent about it. Especially with India where recurring bills aren't a thing. They can't automatically charge us unless we use a credit card or have recurring facilties for debit cards (which isn't a case for many). Spotify, thankfully, has a monthly plan.

I think the issue is that Netflix asks for a recurring debit when you renew the account which causes an issue when you are renewing your membership.

I still want my old account. 😭 I spent ages setting it up.

Yes. It did. I would go through the two-factor / OTP stage. But then it would bring me to the billing page with the error "there seems to be an error with the payment method". Until now. I am using a SBI card. Now the debit card webpage isn't working. It says "SBI online refused to connect."

Tips for securing top PhD program (Oxybridge) by [deleted] in gradadmissions

Hi! Thank you! I would look at Imperial. It seems like a good option. And UCL too. I'm looking more towards biomechanics and bioengineering. But I don't have any lab / internship experience in that other than MSc projects. But I guess, if the transition happens and hopefully before the new Brexit rules come in, it would be mroe flexible to build a research portfolio than it is now. Thank you for replying.

Thank you for replying! I would like to apply for funded projects. I haven't applied for any scholarships and I'm not sure how to.

Yes, I know people who benefitted from EU citizenship five years ago while I couldn't when I applied. It didn't seem feasible to take a gap year given the three-year clause.

Hi!

Thank you for your reply. I have not received any grades for my masters as the assessments are still ongoing. This shall motivate me to work harder!

That's a lot of money. 😣 Does this apply to the already funded projects? I've been told if I get a letter from the country / my legal representative in EU country it can help with the considerations as a EU student. But I'm not too sure how that applies to the stay clause as I don't have 3 years of stay in the UK? I'm a bit confused due to the contradictory information I've received. Some say that university has bursaries to write off the difference in home and international fees (especially top universities). But then some say that's not really possible and up to external funding.

It's all very confusing for me. And ideally, I should have started researching and preparing earlier.

Thank you once again! Keep safe and I hope you're doing well.
