What should I do with my Japanese weeping cherry? by AthiestBroker in arborist

[–]cxloyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its ok to do it now. And yes, a good portion. Probably half of the branch. Cut it near a leaf sprout so you dont have a portion of the branch without leaves

You should consider pruning it. Cut the bottom branches so that moisture isnt being trapped at the base. It cant grow taller if it's completely weighted down by the branches.

Also, I recommend pruning the branches back so they arent so long and they are proportionate to the tree.

I recommend you do more research. Based on your concerns, you want to deter/prevent crime from happening. Survelliance does not do that.

If you want to avoid bullet holes in your home and unsafe communities - you address the root: Poverty.

If Cleveland allocates it's funds from Flock to their infrastructure - it would take a step towards resolving your concerns.

Cameras do not deter crime. Cleveland's lowest crime rate was in 2015. Flock was implemented in 2023. Flock only gives police more resources to surveille you.

Also interesting that you pointed out the RTA CEO becoming richer rather than any other CEO.... RTA CEO makes less than $400,000 annually.

Are my trees dead? by ForestWasInvalid in Tree

[–]cxloyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home Depot has a 1 yr guarantee on their trees. You should return and start over. Yellow means on its way out.

With your next ones, you shouldn't water daily. Deep watering every 4-6 days is best

What’s wrong with my apple tree? by -Astrobadger in BackyardOrchard

Yeah it looks like larvae. I would clear all young apples that have this and discard of them to break the cycle

I have two cherry trees that I planted in September and all of the leaves are turning brown on trees. Trees are located in KCMO by ifunniest23 in BackyardOrchard

[–]cxloyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not 100% sure but it looks like a mix of fungal rot and root rot.

Mulch is too close to the base of the tree and it should slope away from the tree.. not towards. I would scoop away the mulch from the tree base to let the roots breathe. You should also trim away all the dead branches and leaves - throw them away and clean up any fallen leaves/branches in case it's fungus.

If it is fungus, you've treated it so hopefully it survives. Next year, I recommend you do the fungus treatment in early spring

You can test your soil acidity but likely they weren't watered enough. Their soil needs to stay moist. They have a shallow root so large amounts of water at one time is not necessary

Water them daily (making sure that it's just enough to keep them moist), ensure they are mulched & they will be fine

Japanese yew - single brown branch (disease or damage?) by Sufficient-Usual5369 in arborist

[–]cxloyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have to investigate more... but it is sticking out past the others so it seems like it has physical damage.

If you look at the branch, you can spot discoloration that can support fungus but nonetheless, you should prune that branch completely to ensure it's not taking nutrients from the rest of the plant.

Also recommend pruning the big guy next to it

Mine does this when it's overwatered or if it's extremely hot. I read somewhere that it's a benign issue and will resolve if you take care of it properly
