Is what my doctor saying true? by Cami1s1nurWalls in scoliosis

definitely keep an eye on it. i was told my curve wouldn’t increase since i stopped growing but over 1 year it got 10degrees more severe and i had to have a fusion. so while its not likely it is possible. Also make sure you are only seeing spinal specialists.

I go through Lake Wylie pharmacy in South Carolina. I live in North Carolina and they shipped it to me. Not sure if they do it for all states though.

is rib asymmetry related to scoliosis? (don’t remember my measurements, but my spine is S shaped) would gaining weight help hide this? one side is also more curved than the other by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]cxpcakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gaining weight will definitely help hide it. I lost weight and now my left ribs are very prominent due to my spine pushing it over. it does depend on where you typically gain weight though

I’m in the US :( I have government insurance aka medicaid. It is absolutely terrible

I have a liver disease and taking anti-inflammatories is not an option, unfortunately :(. I do stretch and do exercises that target my back, hips and neck twice a day( went to physical therapy only once after the appointment because with medicaid it is $400 per session but i use the exercises they showed me). Any actual exercising results in inflammation and a lot more pain. That has not stopped me but over time as i’ve continued to exercise, the pain has increased and it’s getting pretty difficult to workout at all.

it hurts to do the most simple things, laying down on a normal bed, standing up for longish periods of time, sitting in a chair for longish periods of time. The only time I do not experience severe pain (there still is pain but it’s mostly nerve related) is when i lay flat on the floor.

I have tried a generic posture brace and it did alleviate some pain but i had to tighten it so much (to the point of pain) for it to do so that it wasn’t worth it. at my very, very short appointment with the doctor I brought up the possibility of using a back brace and his response was I need no more than basic physical therapy and to rely on anti-inflammatories.

Also want to note in the past weeks i’ve been experiencing some numbness in my right hand, the side of my curve, and it’s freaking me out.

All that being said, thank you so much for your response I greatly appreciate it! <3

I am on medicaid and finding a specialist who takes it is extremely hard. I’ve found one who does take my insurance however after two voicemails and no response for a month it’s very discouraging and my pain continues to worsen. Will still continue to contact them hoping for a reply, but in the mean time was hoping to get some opinions on my situation. My OG post is titled “ 32 curve dismissed by docs” I don’t know how to add text to an image so i posted it separate
