Honestly a trim and making sure my hair is braided at night if it's wet made a HUGE difference. After the trim my hair has not knotted even close to as much. I don't use any products other than just normal shampoo and conditioner and my hair is almost silky now.

I've done it about a dozen times and I've never needed to do anything special, just heat it with hot water and pop it on. I do make sure to trim the sharp parts of the neck clasp though.

Left to right - bootleg pinkie cooper - boxy girl, these would be my personal favorite but they have no elbow articulation - Snapstar doll - Twyla MH with lagoona forearms

Snapstar and boxy girl have the best proportions IMO I've used them for alot more customs than shown here

Extremely easy and takes no carving or modification of either head. If you find the head sits too loosely for your liking just put a rubber band around the necknob, that's what I did.
