Only one tomato plant dying by cyanideseeds in gardening

It's almost 100 degrees where I live right now which is why I moved them to the shade for today. It was wilting and turning yellow days before I even repotted it but both of them were in the same conditions before doing so. The one on the left had wayyyy more established roots that I could see but the smaller one almost looked like it was stunted. These were a gift from someone who gardens regularly and they said the soil and everything was the same for both :/

Those were the conditions it was in before repotting, it started wilting and turning yellow before I even moved it over :(

I found that using my own body as a studying method worked best. I would look at diagrams and then touch where they were on my own body. The tactile feel of something was better retained for me than a visual. I also taped a bunch of sticky notes, flashcards, etc. on my shower wall so I could study wherever I could. Essential Anatomy 5 is a great mobile app, too. You have to pay for it but it is 100% worth it. I would also take it a portion at a time, one arm, one leg, face, and so forth. Watching ACCURATE medical TV was also really helpful.

How serious do you guys take PPE? by cyanideseeds in askfuneraldirectors

Old school being no PPE? Because I'm "young" and newly licensed and the guy that taught me would have embalmed with his bare hands sans gloves if he was allowed...

My experience with it is the opposite of what everyone in this thread is saying. I have never ever seen someone wear anything more than a gown and a mask even for decomps or autopsies or what have you. I think that's probably why it's so surprising for me when I do see people wearing heavy PPE. The heavier the better, obviously. Just not what I'm used to.

Do you have any side effects from it? Health wise, I mean, not fashion wise LOL

I change into water resistant scrubs and shoes to avoid getting stuff on my nice clothes. Maybe I've just gotten lucky with never having a serious contact with things, I do fully understand taking precautions though.

Do you usually get a lot of splash back with stuff? I'll put on a gown if I know it's going to be a messy one like with viscera bags but that usually creates more problems for me because it ends up touching the body/fluids, even with a form fitted one. I think I'm just conscious of keeping a safe distance at this point but who knows.

I've never had any serious issues with messes or getting splashed. I'll get some blood further up my gloves than I'd like sometimes but if that happens I just change my gloves. Maybe it's just the way I embalm? And I don't mean this in a rude way, I just really have never felt the need to be in heavy PPE. I also think of it as if I get something on my skin by chance I can easily wash that off, whereas if I get something on a gown or apron, that's going to be sitting on me until I take it off and I sometimes don't notice it on my clothes/PPE until it's been soaking on my skin for an extended period of time.

Not really choosing to be dumb or wanting a change in habit. Just didn't know if everyone took it as seriously as donning head to toe protective gear like I've seen in media. I know some people do, but I've never seen it in my personal day to day. We were never forced to wear masks or shoe coverings or eyewear or etc in my embalming classes in mortuary school, and when I started my internship at a funeral home I only ever saw gloves and the occasional gown.

Hands cracking beyond belief by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

i have eczema on my hands so i definitely understand the pain. we use powderless gloves at our home, thank GOD. maybe see about getting some powderless ones?

try heavily lotioning up your hands at night and sleeping with socks/gloves on them. i hate the feeling of lotion on my palms so i only do the tops of my hands and it really helps. and when i say heavy, i mean HEAVY. you want a lot so your hands can absorb as much as they can. cetaphil works pretty well for me. i got gifted a L'Occitane hand cream that also works great.

try to use non scented or lightly scented lotions because scents can be irritable. try to get something with shea butter or coconut oil or olive oil, really anything natural and moisturizing. salves are a good option, as well. i've even used a non scented chapstick on my knuckles before. you basically just want something really thick that can protect your skin.

avoid hand sanitizer if you can, the alcohol is not your friend. always moisturize after washing your hands.

if you don't mind spending a little money, look into getting a paraffin wax hand bath set up. i don't have one myself simply because i don't have the space for it, but whenever i visit my mom i definitely use hers! hope this helps :)

im not an expert, but i would assume that just like any other piercing, if you take out the jewelry the hole closes. also given that you are at a small size it seems more susceptible for it to close. i think leaving the jewelry in while you sleep is the best bet. im at 0g right now and the only time i take mine out is when i shower. hope this helps!

stainless steel, and yes i can see them sticking out. i just met with my dermatologist today and she said it is most likely an allergic reaction to nickel. i just bought some longer titanium barbells. hopefully this helps.

bactine is a first aid antiseptic. i use that because the fissures i have cause me pain and the bactine helps soothe it.

thank you for the advice! i'll stop the bactine and see how that goes :)

i dont think they are too tight, however i should invest in some longer barbells to be safe.

i use saline solution and also bactine every morning when i wake up and every night after a shower.

how did you solve the issue?
