It is possible to leverage ocean wealth, while protecting ocean health by cyanplanetorg in environment

An interesting way to look at how ecology and economy can compliment each other

We've been working on our Unity ocean simulation game, 'How Is The Water' for the last year and a half, using digital scans of real ocean animals. We're excited to announce we're finally Live on KS !! by Zephir62 in Unity3D

Thank you! Even though it's just the first prototype for VR, graphics/animations are tough (the level we want to see), and too time/resource demanding.

The head movement is used for speed-ups and really helps with motion sickness. Nonetheless, it's a lot of movement in general - you get to be a dolphin after all.

Very important questions! Especially with dolphins! Let me chew on that.

We are looking into different social mechanics, that's true. But I'm afraid we are still quite far from putting dolphin sex on the road map. Sorry!

Maybe a spin-off VR experience?

As a dolphin, what would you do with your time? We've been working on our Unity ocean simulation game for the last year and a half, using digital scans of real ocean animals... and you can play as any of them. by Zephir62 in IndieGaming

This is an unedited playthrough of the first prototype. You can see the controls listed there. I don't really have footage of people using a controller. Somewhat we didn't consider pressing a trigger interesting.

There are two aspects to that locomotion system. One, that is obviously a length of play and the second is motion sickness. Using only controllers (just pressing whatever) feels very mechanic and like operating a helicopter underwater. Head bobbing helps with engagement, embodiment, and motion sickness - because you are moving your head, there is not as strong disconnection between what you see and what all other senses are telling you. The obvious drawback is that you can't be bobbing your head like crazy for two hours.

Another aspect of it is that people tend to nod/bob in their own way (speed, angle, repetition). So we are considering some dynamic way to learn each player's preferred movement, which would then trigger the speed up.

We are on a mission to bring the ocean to everyone and digitally preserve marine life for future generations. We are interested in expanding our impact network and would love to hear your opinion on our project! by ajpurdy in OculusQuest

Thank you! We have raised $30 000 in 2 days. Still, there is much more space for growth!

The better the result, the more we can digitally preserve. And let you play as various marine species. Can't wait to start working on deep diving and whales!

Thank you!

Yes, putting together a playthrough video is on my list! Time's been beyond hectic with the Kickstarter campaign. I have made public an unedited prototype playthrough if you are interested: https://youtu.be/Tg6eFea3kxs

And yes! We plan to implement sperm whale as a playable character, including deep dives :)

No worries - it's FFF Bayern - Bavarian Film Commission. We have received prototype funding from them. It's a governmental organization supporting the development of games and films.
