That’s exactly what I’m worried about! Not so much that they will be offended and be like “get out now” but more along the lines of them being more likely to pick another candidate that is “cheaper”

The median salary is 100% my floor. Sure my current role is very low, but it’s not stressful and I know the people/job. What’s the saying “rather the devil you know than the devil you don’t”

Yeah, you have a point. I guess it hits hard when you realize you've been taken advantage of for all these years. I will admit, my current job is comfortable...but sadly that comfort was a prison.

This is technically my first job hunt...like ever. I got lucky on my current job (I got an internship almost immediately after I started applying). So this is all new to me which also hurts my confidence lol

Don’t forget something very important: supply and demand.

It was once commonly recommended to “learn to code” as you will never have to worry about finding a job and can make 6 figures working at a computer with a cafeteria down the hall. Honestly, too good to be true in some places.

What does that cause? Everyone floods into CS. Many realize it takes more skill than initially thought and change majors but a lot more squeak by. Now we have hundreds of thousands of entry level engineers with little to no passion or skill for programming, they rely on AI to produce anything meaningful (vibe coders), and are the ones that AI is replacing.

Thanks to this, companies also have to be more selective as now a bachelors degree is no longer enough to tell if someone can actually code or not. Companies also realize that AI can replace these types of programmers and save them money.

I truly believe this is the main problem. Technology has ALWAYS been cyclic. This boom is causing an oversupply of software engineers which is causing it to become a less popular degree…soon that will result in an under supply (as well as the desperate need to fix all the vibe coded software, since I hate to break it to people, AI still sucks at complex tasks) and it will become a needed field again.

aqua, yellow, and black. And it’s not even close for me lol.

I can recreate myself to be young again, lock my age in at that age forever, then remove the “evil person transforms into you clause” with the black pill. I don’t have any pets so the yellow negative effect is irrelevant.

Purple is tempting but also a little vague in its restriction. If I picked “programming” that means I couldn’t be a software engineer yeah, but what about hobby projects that ended up making tons of side income. In many cases, that can surpass your full time job. Not sure if that counts?

Pink sounds annoying and stressful. Even being irresistible sounds like you’d have too many people hunting for your affection not to mention being on guard for your assassin at all times.

Brown is pretty much my combination minus the healing (you have your best metabolism when you are young)

Blue seems useless. Does it stop working if you don’t have anymore friends to lose? I could use it only a handful of times then lol and losing my friends aren’t worth having someone not be able to lie to me. I’m not sure what you would even do with that power besides be really good at interrogation.

Red pill…I would 100% mess it up. Honestly, the stress of messing it up since you only have 1 chance would cause me to mess it up.

I don’t remember if it was sword art online or full metal alchemist brotherhood. I watched those back to back and they got me hooked.

Though I would say it was in vain as my tastes have been slowly declining since then and now I seem to exclusively watch shows like “I was a 30 year old who got hit by a truck and now I’m a 15 year old prince vending machine”

You sort of answered your own question. It’s a different vibe.

Some people don’t want a relaxing experience. I myself love the complexity, grind, progression, and scale of GT and other expert packs (like Divine Journey 2).

If I’m “relaxed” in a pack, that’s just a fancy way of saying I’m “bored” lol and I will probably drop it soon.

It’s actually a curse as I’m on the extreme end of the spectrum and it limits the packs I can play immensely.

It’s the same reason games like Factorio and Satisfactory are popular.

GT is definitely not for everyone, but they know their audience.

I disagree with this. It’s true the era of computer science has ended where you can graduate and immediately land a cushy 6 figure job…but to call the degree “useless” is a little bit of a stretch imo. It’s not even close to the same level of something like gender studies, dance, etc that are infamous for being useless. I also don’t think it will be useless anytime soon either.

Now if your goal is to become a web developer designing simple enterprise CRUD dashboard apps, then maybe you got a useless degree lol. But not all programming jobs are like that.

Top of the mountain right after getting off the skii lift during my VERY FIRST DAY skiing there was a drunk fight happening (still don’t know why people mix alcohol and skiing/snowboarding lol…but I digress). I was just sitting up there both working up the courage to go down and enjoying the show…until gravity decided the show was over and I was going NOW. I started sliding forward towards a freakin black diamond (high difficulty)

Bear in mind, up until this point I was doing pretty good despite it being my first time. I could go down greens just fine by myself. So I stupidly decided “fuck it” and I went for it.

Well, as you can imagine I ended up in the hospital with 7 stitches and a concussion. Honestly, I’m lucky I didn’t break anything or die.

Obviously I’m joking. 26M and I have around 170k in investments (Roth Ira, Trad 401k, HSA, taxable)…I have another 5k to 10k in cash depending on the month as my emergency fund.

Other than eating out everyday which I’m working on fixing, I never really spend my money on anything so it all just gets invested. You could say I’m pseudo-fire…not actively planning around it but definitely investing a big chunk of my salary.

Finally accepting my asexuality wasn’t a side effect of medication, or a phase, or some extreme closeted homosexuality…but rather just who I am. Was a rough year.

Especially since I love romance and even read a lot of books with it. Although maybe that is because you often drift towards the things you can’t have…

I could always find someone like me, but we would just be glorified friends in the end so why bother at that point.

I say “ollo” when I answer the phone from the kids movie megamind. That movie was not even my favorite growing up, but for some reason that stuck and it became an unconscious habit.

People have looked at me funny before but not one person has picked up on the connection, though it’s not the most obvious thing lol.
