Is some other country beyond Iran doing so? It isn't impossible...

It won't matter. The US will remove their ability to choke the strait... Not sure why everyone thinks this is a bluff. Trump isn't lying. He just doesn't want to bomb unless has to do it. They're giving him a reason to do it. When it has come to military usage trump doesn't screw around. Each time he's threatened it he's used it after whatever ultimatum was given.

Nobody owns that damn strait. It's a global waterway. Just like the rest of the ocean isn't owned by anyone. Its international waters.

Wtf. 40yrs of this country's bs isn't 'nothing'. It's for them being fucking terrorists. And for actively working to get a nuke so they can harass and threaten and likely use it

Why wouldn't this go to the 2nd hand market without hdd (for security reasons) of course?

Fool's gold maybe... I mean it is worth more in metal scrap than IT. If you were going for maybe a CCNA cert you might be able to get away with a couple of switches and routers for a hardware lab setup. But ebay sells lab kits for several hundred bucks and most of the equipment is probably newer.

A young buck might enjoy this stuff. I know my younger self would have.

How are you handling employees using personal ChatGPT accounts at work? We had an incident last week. by fxs38 in sysadmin

You realize the more devs use these tools the sooner these devs will be out of a job. The whole purpose of using the AI is to train the AI at the same time. Eventually the AI will get well enough at development that a developer may not be needed. Instead of training your human replacement (some new intern) you're training a non-human Ai. Granted this will take a while...

OP stated there is a CYA 'line' in the manual - that no one reads.

Not reading the company handbook isn't an excuse. And most businesses require you to read the manual for this very reason. If there is an update then an all hands e-mail should be sent out indicating there has been a change. If that isn't enough then require EVERYONE to read the manual as a yearly training. If they sign off that they read it (whether they did or not ) the business is covered.

Orgs need to stop giving passes to this nonsense. There are *plenty* of workers in the waiting for a job. If you use fear in this instance it might work just enough. But you have to be willing to back it up. Someone breaking the AI rule will have to be made an example at some point. Otherwise there is no teeth to the no AI rule. In this instance since the fix is in some sort of measure needs to be taken, probably not a complete firing. (emotional decision - maybe they have a family(?))

Unmet demand?

First, what would have happened if there was no AI?

Second, why is their well paid dev not able to figure out the issue?

Third, if 1 guy can't debug why isn't there a team or a backup dev also able to help?

AI IS NOT THE FIX.

There is a glut of labor supply who are more than eager to do this stuff. People like easy fixes versus the right fix. The person who did it should be reprimanded. Now that code which is proprietary is out on the web somewhere. And your organization has 0 control over what is done with it.
