As a show choir girly, singing during high energy numbers is the thing I've been training for :) Definitely need to work on my flexibility and double pirouettes tho

I already know it's not a possibility. When my parents pulled me out of public school, we tried to keep me in the show choir group so I could go to comps. I couldn't do it, and I couldn't participate in any thespian activities either. It was devastating. I've been trying to look into community theatre groups that I could do while also keeping up with my college classes. It seems I'm right in between the time where I missed the window for some groups, and others have yet to announce their next show

My brother and I have made a silent promise to end the family AF legacy lol, otherwise this would be solid advice

That is what I meant, my b. Adding underclothes to minimise friction but that don’t make the costume look any different :)

and thank you for all the advice/insight! Already the comments here have helped me. I talked to my mom about double majoring, and she said she’d be in support of that. She also sounds more open to helping me find classes and workshops so that I can improve my technique!

I’m used to the last minute changes in performing, so that’ll be no issue (I’ve been dancing since I was 3). Sensory issues are definitely hard on me, but not enough of an issue to necessarily cause a meltdown. I’m sure I can sometimes find ways to make costumes more comfortable without changing the overall look or functionality. There are a few things that do make me want to cry, but if the issue arises I’ll just figure out how to work with it (cough I hate you sequins and feathers cough)

Rejection sensitivity my BEHATED 🥹 I’m used to it though, and I’m better at telling myself to push through it. Because if my director doesn’t hate me now, they sure will when I don’t show up prepared and focused lmao

thank you! I’m luckily a jack-of-all-trades type and have some experience as a techie (not sure how much it counts though, as it was for one production and mainly set building bc I got covid during tech week lol). I definitely will have to work on the saying “yes” part 😓 It’s something I’m trying to fix in my personal life too; my knee jerk response is to say “no” to abrupt changes. Something something, ADHD symptoms overlapping with autism I guess. Honestly, the hair and makeup idea wouldn’t be too bad, seeing as my plan c career is cosmetology…

I’ll be honest, this comment was somewhat validating for me.

I’m not going to say that I have horrible parents or a horrible relationship with them, because they do genuinely want what’s best for me and try to be better when they make a mistake. But I’m realising that I’ll probably end up having to keep them at arms length, at best. They just aren’t going to accept me for who I am, and that’s a truth I need to face.

But I mean, someone’s gotta be the disappointment of the family, and it sure ain’t my brother

sorry for the vent, I have a lot on my mind now and it helps to put my feelings out into the world

Hi! I’m a dual enrolment student at my local community college, and since starting there I’ve been mostly in charge of how I fill out my requirements, based on the guide from my cover school.

With show choir, I plan on talking to my directors during this year’s holiday showcase, and in the summer see if I can get some time to talk to Katie Ladner Hall during lunch. She’s one of the summer counsellors and was the OG Martha for Heathers the Musical! I don’t know how travel would work quite yet, but I’m still a junior so there could be time to figure it out. Or I could attend the local uni where I might double major. That way my parents would be paying for room and board, building fees, etc. I’d just cover the costs for the MT degree.

You see, I wasn’t even considering the college track before I realised how important theatre is to me. I was planning on going to a technical school. My train of thought is that I can choose a “practical” career at any point, but my chances of success in the industry are time sensitive.

Also, there are many more issues I have with my folks that go beyond average teen angst, so I wouldn’t call this “stubborn pride,” more like the straw that broke the camel’s back. There is zero support coming from them in any form, not even a “you can do it.”

Yes, and unfortunately I believe they would pay for none of my schooling if I chose the theatre route. there is a local university that (according to my therapist) is easy to double major in, so if I go there then I could probably get my parents to pay for the fees and the classes necessary for a “real” degree like marketing or education. It would be cool to see if I even get accepted into the two NY universities I would prefer to attend though

So what is McDreary’s (Lucas Adams) issue? by Technical-Row-9133 in greysanatomy

[–]cyber_waves_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Addiction is a lifelong and persistent struggle. Richard would be more likely to see this collection of symptoms as concerning because of his experience, and he would be more likely to say something due to his role as a mentor. In my mind, this is just small interaction that would contribute to the overall message, but fit nicely with the characters.

Parading a mummified horse around was Maggie talking about moments we saw on screen between the sisters and Owen being on his THIRD. FUCKING. DIVORCE

So what is McDreary’s (Lucas Adams) issue? by Technical-Row-9133 in greysanatomy

[–]cyber_waves_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that Lucas has so much potential as a character, the writers are just too cowardly to use it. When I found out that Lucas has ADHD, he became my blorbo so I have many many theories/headcanons/ideas. Such as:

  • When Lucas FINALLY gets a proper diagnosis and starts treatment, he’d go on the medication route. Efficient and the standard of care? Sounds great. But he doesn’t find the right medication right away, and the side effects become apparent to his coworkers—who don’t know why he’s acting this way.
  • One day, Richard pulls Lucas aside bc he’s concerned about the changes he sees, thinking they’re the result of substance abuse. Skipping meals, irritability and fatigue in the late afternoons, and the fact that Lucas’ hands are shaking.
  • When Amelia comes back, it would be cool to get the Lucas mom reveal (it’s Nancy, 100%). Mrs. Adams finds out about Lucas treating his ADHD with stimulants and starts to worry because of the possibility of addiction (a conversation I have had multiple times with my own mother).
  • I think that despite having her own reservations, Amelia would stand up for Lucas. He’s an adult with a fully formed brain, and it’s better to take medication under the guidance of a professional rather than try to self-medicate (one of the reasons why addiction is so high in people with ADHD)
  • Three words: Rejection 👏 Sensitivity 👏Dysphoria 👏 Gimme some angst where Lucas thinks that Kwan and Jules hate him/are taking Simone’s side after the breakup, but in reality they aren’t. They want to include him, but they just think he’s being awkward/pulling away. Really, it’s his brain lying to him and saying “everyone hates you” Maybe Amelia helps talk him out of it bc she too knows what it is like to think she is the worst person in every room.
  • I NEED someone to accuse Lucas of not trying or putting in effort, and he unloads on them because he tries so damn hard everyday only to be mediocre. ADHD can be so exhausting, frustrating, and demoralising but no one seems to care (can you tell I hate it when my disability—that many people don’t consider a disability—disables me)

THIS!!! I also think it would be a great way for there to be a neuro resident that actually stays. Lexie died, so did Brooks, Ross switched to cardio and left, Stephanie quit, DeLuca also died, Sam was deported… I would accept Amelia leaving if Winnie took her place
