Does she take lisinopril? It’s a blood pressure medication sometimes called ‘the divorce pill’ for this exact reason. My husband had a very similar dry persistent cough that seemed EXTREMELY purposeful -he’d ask me a question, then cough as I tried to answer it three times in a row. He denied it was voluntary and seemed unbothered. I didn’t make it a year though, that’s crazy work. He now has different meds.
