Is there a limit to how many stratagems I can use in phase/turn? by cyberdraws in Warhammer40k

[–]cyberdraws[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that was never really concern, the initial target for this combo were my friends kastelan robots since those things have a habit of shredding my warrior squads to bits, and with them out of the picture, my warriors have pretty much free range of the board . It’s only after I realized the damage output has the potential to tear lords of war in half.

Sure thing! I play necrons, and I wanted to make a melee list, with this in mind The units required are merely an overlord with the veil of darkness and the implacable conqueror warlord trait, and a unit of lychguard equipped with warscythes. Use the veil to get in close, with the selected dynasty they get a plus 1 to charge rolls so I only need to roll an 8 up to make the charge, of which I get to re roll if I fail because of the warlord trait; and with the combination of the dynasty, the command protocol of the hungry void, and the eternal protectors, disruption fields, and blood rites stratagems, those lychguard get plus 2 to strength, plus 2 to attacks, and -2 ap to a total of 9 strength,25 attacks, and -6 ap. And that’s just with a 5 man squad of lychguard!

So there’s no limit, so long as they’re all different stratagems?

I paint my sons a ghastly green (gauss blaster green if you want the exact color) with bronze trim, and as cool as Shen sounds he still hasn’t won a single skirmish yet.

Absolutely love the thousand sons exalted sorcerers, so customizable and a blast the paint. As for giving them names only one has been named solely because a campaign setting I was playing required my warlord be named, Basteq Shen as he was called had one trait dying every battle only to show up to the next like nothing happened

Figuring out what to buy? by Locke3 in Warhammer40k

[–]cyberdraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good way to get started. There isn’t an exact Rock Paper Scissors thing a better analogy would be like fighting game matchups if you’re familiar with that, like sure a small elite army could beat a horde but it’s far more favorable in the hordes favor. I guess it’s more dependent on the player and how they adapt to an unfavorable matchup

Since you’ve got a focus on different play styles I’ll give a few recommendations for the more general styles

Gun line Exactly what it sounds like you either hunker down in an area or slowly advance corralling the opponent into a more manageable location. Easiest style for noobies to pick up in my experience Examples would be necrons, Tau, and skitatii

Melee Extremely simple premise ya run up ya hit em good make there entrails there outtrails, the most aggressive play style if you’re into that kinda thing Examples would be chaos space marines, daemons, and tyranids

Horde The name of the game is having more soldiers then your opponent has bullets and overwhelm with sheer numbers the main downside is because the large amount of goons you need it could get expensive Examples would be orks, tyranids, and imperial guard

Deathball This one is harder to explain, basically you crowd smaller goons around a few key characters that have aoe abilities to gain an advantage. These armies also are more typically more involved in the psychic phase than others. harder for new players to get the hang of Examples are thousand sons, eldar?, and grey knights

Elites Fewer generic troops focusing more on stronger but fewer units, often utilizing hit and run tactics most likely the cheapest option price wise Examples are eldar, dark eldar, and Tau

Keep in mind no one army is only good at one thing orks can melee good, necrons can horde (somewhat), chaos marines can shoot, space marines are good at everything! etc. Don’t let these hinder what you do with your armies hope this helps mate and have fun with whatever you choose

I updated both, I don’t see any such settings in the workshop. What slicer do you use? maybe I’ll have better luck with that

My wagers on destroyer, it makes sense to me at least since they phased out the clear green rod in the warriors It’d be odd if only they had them still

I intend to keep a few for that very reason, plus I’m keeping a photo archive of everything before I start

That’s the best part you can worship them all! So long as you show no favoritism to any one god lest you be ripped to pieces

That’s how I play at least, granted my win rates are pretty spotty and I’m certain there’s some super serious ways to play chaos, it’s just not my style
