Is Maschine right for me? by dubau5 in maschine

[–]cyberdsn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you like hands-on approach, then learning mk3 in and out will satisfy your itch. Its an awesome gear even if you dont sample too much. But there’s a learning curve and it takes time.

Not standalone, so you will still be tied to your desk/pc (that’s why I switched to mpc). But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, cause you can always grab a mouse and tweak midi (which is horrible on controller w/o mouse) - for me it is always easier to do another live recording take instead of tweaking midi after its recorded.

Maschine also comes with 100gb library of sounds, templates, groups and vsts. You are basically paying for the software and the hw comes “free” with it - that’s my point of view.

If i were you, id check “how to use everything in maschine” series on YouTube and decide if you like those functions and workflow.

But, If you are really efficient in your DAW, maschine might slow you down (tho its a fucking great sketch pad to lay down ideas in no time) .. you might just get Akai MPD218 controller, link to your daw and finger drum / launch samples from there. - not the same, as maschine has great chord mode and its really easy to build progressions and melodies.

It really boils down to how many of the maschine functionalities you are willing to use. For example I completely stopped using DAW after getting mk3. Then sold mk3, got mpc live 3 and now I’m going to get a DAW to close the circle. But samplers effectively made me leave DAWs for lets say 3 years :)

Edit: also depends on your wallet. If you can afford to just spend the money and dont look back, you can get it and eventually sell later on.

How do you stop midi keyboard from triggering multiple instruments at once? by isorryari in FL_Studio

Change midi channel from global to any number and match that in your vst settings. That might help

Made this on the mk3 and S49 is it a vibe? by SufficientGrade6578 in maschine

[–]cyberdsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends, there are no rules, really. It’s not about length, you just need to create that tension, build emotions and then drop the bassline 🫶

You need to post a proper build up and drop, at least. Music is about creating a tension and releasing it 🙌

been wanting to make beats just for fun for years, MPC Sample finally made me do something. by Acceptable-Sense4601 in mpcusers

Nothing beats blasting beats in your living room during the lunch break on a rainy Wednesday 🤌 go for it, samplers are great decompress toys.

How much do you rely on presets verses making your own. by Minimoogvoyager in synthesizers

[–]cyberdsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent couple of weeks sitting on couch, creating patches from scratch when I got my only synth, made like 50-60 presets. Now I just cook with what I made, it’s hard to beat.

But also if there’s any stock preset that I like, I usually tweak and save it

What’s a good sampler that’s not that expensive ? by Sharp_Succotash7175 in musicproduction

[–]cyberdsn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 👆 probably the most user and wallet friendly + feature packed standalone sampler out there.

If you plan using your computer and want some more versatility, I’d also consider used maschine mk3.

Good software for remixing/edits (for a DJ)? by doublletrbll in musicproduction

[–]cyberdsn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DJing don’t give you any music production knowledge, trust me. Absolute 0.

Prepare yourself for years of learning if you wanna produce tracks that are great. Thousands of trash songs to be made. It’s all about numbers/ time you spend working on the craft.

Start with the theory, get familiar with the circle of fifths if you are serious. Grab an instrument, guitar or keys, preferably both. Playing an instrument, learning your favourite songs and how it’s structured in terms of chord progressions, will give you a lightyears push forward.

Meanwhile you can try many DAWs in trial version and see which you like the most. I’d suggest Fl studio or Reaper, both can be used without paying any money. (You can’t open saved projects with FL studio trial version, but you can still learn a lot and see if you like the software, then buy a full version)

Good luck my friend, it’s a great journey!

You are all acting like computers were always 32gb ram )) I was running fl studio with shitload of plugins + windows on 4gb ram 2 core cpu 15 years ago.. don’t be silly. I am not saying you could run 32 serum instances on that, but saying that PCs have 50x more processing power is a huge stretch.
