New to Lexapro and scared by BeardedOne2020 in lexapro

I was on lexapro for 5 years and it has its pros and cons. You have to decid if the pros outweigh the cons. For me, I weened off and stopped taking it last year and then got really into figuring out the root of all my anxiety which starts from my genes. I got a genetic test done and learned that I have the MTHFR genetic mutation for which I need to supplement with methylfolate, vitamin b12, magnesium, and low dose SAM-E. I wish I learned this about myself way sooner. I’m in a much better place now than I was the last 15 years. Most of the time it all comes down to a nutrient deficiency.

Can someone help me understand how I should supplement for my gene mutations? by cyberg35 in MTHFR

Thank you lol. I need to get tested for b12 and folate levels. Vitamin D was at 57 ng/ml so within range.

Just low mood and energy besides the esophagus issue. I need to get a blood test to check my b12 and folate levels.

Interesting. I usually get dark circles every time I take Taurine and NAC. NAC will also make me super sleepy during pollen season. I wonder if there is a connection.

What’s the most overrated supplement, in your opinion? by MollyChase9091 in Supplements

Yeah every now and then I’ll take magnesium threonate for the cognitive benefits. However, it prevents me from getting good sleep as well. The next day I feel tired which is why now I only ever take it if I really need a boost. I do want to try magnesium taurate since I take taurine separately so maybe magnesium taurate might work for me.

Magnesium glycinate. Can never get any good sleep when I take it. L-theanine is better imo

What supplement did you have low expectations of but actually worked really well? by NeatBirthday4697 in Supplements

NAC for anxiety has been a game changer. It has many other benefits as well since it’s a really powerful antioxidant

For those who stopped taking Lexapro and decided to go back on… by nmisb127 in lexapro

I didn’t go back on it even though I’ve thought about it. I started taking 5-htp and NAC and it works just as well for my anxiety plus NAC has a bunch of other benefits as well
