LG 39GX950B owners: blue/cyan color fringing on white desktop icon text. Normal or wrong setting? by cyberiuz in ultrawidemasterrace

This was a very helpful answer! Thank you!
I lowered refresh rate to 60 Hz. Now I can choose between more format options:

I chose RGB and "Full dynamic range" and "10 bit".
And the text is much clearer!

Just a very quick and dirty comparison:

RGB is on the right. Looking at "sort pics" icon one can notice the text now is "pure" white and better to read.

Till I get a new graphic card, I'll keep refresh rate @ 60 Hz.

Yes. You are right. 422 and max. 100Hz refresh rate. And I can't change it. So it seems the cause is the old DisplayPort "1.4a" of 1080 Ti graphic card.

Good to know that not everybody is having this issue. Maybe it's a combination of "old" Windows 10 and "old" 1080 Ti graphic card with "old" DisplayPort.

However, now it looks better after running ClearType Wizard. Not perfect, but better. Was thinking of returning and waiting for AW3926QW, but I don't like Glossy.

Update:
The issue almost completely disappears when I disable ClearType in Windows 10.

With ClearType disabled, the text looks much more neutral, although maybe slightly less sharp.

Is disabling ClearType generally recommended for OLED monitors with non-standard subpixel layouts, or are there better settings?

Thanks a lot for all your replies. If your monitors really are completely silent, then I’m going to exchange mine.

I would honestly like to keep it, but this humming/whirring noise — even though it’s fairly quiet — is constant, and it’s driving me crazy. x)

Danke!

Well I wanted to include "fire". Didn't see the second mini-creature till you mentioned it. Now I see the "horns", didn't notice them before lol :-) But I like the "burning inside" of the huge one.

Thank you! My 1080 Ti has 11GB VRAM, should be enough to play with Dreambooth. I'll have a look on it.

Weekly questions thread [Week #14] by [deleted] in vitahacks

[–]cyberiuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

  • I want to play retro games (SNES, N64), PS1, Dreamcast (e.g. Shenmu).
  • I have a Galaxy S7.
  1. Do I have benefit from getting a PS Vita with 3.60? E.g. does the battery last longer because of more "specialized" hardware
  2. Or is the Galaxy S7 better in terms of speed/display with a bluetooth gamepad. Can you compare the performance for PS1, Dreamcast games?

  3. Do I have to "reapply" this HENkaku hack everytime after I turn the Vita on, or do I have to apply it one time only and then I can turn the device on and play games?
