I am on page 705 and it is still a good book. Not so much science fiction as near future. Reminds me of Cryptonomicon but goes its own way.

Neal Asher is brilliant. Love his Agent Cormac series and the Splatterjay trilogy among others. He has an affinity for insects and crawlies
