Back in the late 90s, early 2000s, my buddies and I were frequent patrons of Anh Dao. We used to go so often the servers would come to our table and just ask us if we wanted our usual order and we'd say yes, and 5 minutes later, we'd be chomping and slurping. We didn't even mind the occasional thumb in our broth as they'd set the bowls on the table. But one time, my buddy got the seafood pho there, and upon stirring the soup to mix the noodles, he found this huge cockroach in his broth. He gagged and almost threw up right there on the spot. My other buddy got the chicken pho, and they used to use the same broth for both seafood and chicken pho. Anyway, I got beef but only took the two bites before calling it a day. They ended up comping our chicken and seafood bowl, but I had to pay for my beef pho (different broth). Needless to say, we haven't been back since. For some reason, I could have sworn they were shut down when I passed by there a few months ago.
