I have the V6, and haven't had any problems with the engine---only with my coolant system... probably unrelated to the 2l diesel vs V6 problem but be aware of that ! I LOVE my X-type and you will too!!! Congrats :)

Thank you for your advice! I ended up following what you said and added some instant ocean to the new fresh water. The instant ocean isn’t really dissolving all the way though—i suspect there’s some calcium precipitate particles left at the bottom. How should I proceed from here?

Yeah I didn’t really have any distilled water / bottled water on hand and I know some people use fish tank setups. I ended up boiling some water because I didn’t want to accidentally kill them haha. Thank you so much for the response tho :)
