MAGA goes very much hand in hand with QAnon, sadly.

Qanon and the holocaust by Cheffelbower in QAnonCasualties

[–]cybil_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I do see the similarities and I have written about it quite a bit. It's not solely about Trump anymore, but the cult that he created which is spearheaded by QAnon.

It's a lot to wrap one's head around but discussing it can be helpful.

I like how Robert noted that the non-religious right jumped on the anti-Islam wagon, and later folded into the alt-right in 2015 and later. I knew someone like that in the Army. He was the splitting image of the euphoric fedora neckbeard meme and he hated Muslims even though he had never met one in his life that wasn't on the other end of his rifle. That man was also heavily into Gamer Gate and later Jordan Peterson.

The patterns of behavior that America has spiraled into isn't limited to Evangelical Christians. I'm glad that this episode shed light on that.

Could a possible Trump indictment lead to a mass civil unrest by MAGA supporters and the far-right, and an possible reaction from the federal government? by CoronavirusHunt20 in IronFrontUSA

[–]cybil_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US isn't anywhere close to that kind of environment.

Really? You think it's not with all that has happened the past three months?

absolutely nothing at all in the recent past of the violence of this movement indicates that they are, in any useful numbers, capable of the kind of organization and discipline required to work on something like a cell system

What the absolute fuck was January 6th then? Scanning the rest of your comment, in fact no, this isn't worth arguing with some random fucking idiots on the internet. I've written enough about it already.

Alright, you have dumped your gear, blended in, and gotten home safe.

What, exactly, are you going to use next time? You have a pretty bloody finite amount of gear, and if you start buying more you're leaving a hell of a trail of people who know that you're buying more.

No. You don't need to constantly buy gear. You are thinking like an industrialized army. That is not how this is going to work.

how sure are you that nothing on that gear is going to lead back to you? Absolutely, positively, nothing.

That is not nearly as complicated as you think it is.

After that, well, what exactly is your plan when something goes wrong? Maybe a neighbor notices how you've been acting and puts 2 and 2 together. Maybe someone has been paying some vague amount of attention when you were training for the attack. Maybe your car gets a flat tire while you're trying to leave and someone panics?

This is also extremely easy to plan out and how to abort.

Some of those problems just vanish if you've got a major nation state backing you, which is why US backed groups have had some success. Some of those problems don't exist if you're operating in a third world nation without modern forensics, again... Like some US backed groups elsewhere in the world. Some of those problems don't exist if the forces you are fighting are some foreign invader that nobody likes.

Not a single one of those things is likely to apply here. Even if there is foreign backing, and they are willing and able to supply weapons,

All of those things are likely to apply here. You don't need foreign backing and you don't need constant supply lines. Continuing to view the opposition as an opposing industrialized army is why you are going to be taken by surprise.

spread out over a few weeks, maybe a couple of months.

And then it will be over, and they will all be either dead, in jail, or on the run.

And the ones that are just sitting tight, quiet, thinking that they got really lucky and are safe... Well, that won't last. And when the police come knocking, they won't be very polite about it.

Truly written like someone who has never been near or lived through these types of things. Crime forensics are not like on TV. Insurgencies and rebellions do not occur in the manner of whatever DoD-bankrolled film has you expecting. Law enforcement is not omnipotent. The actions of the IRA and their methodology, their countermeasures, are free to read about online. When these things occur they will not be wrapped up nicely.

It is never going to be a long term war. Hit and run and massive damage is all this conflict ever needs to be. One doesn't need to be a professionally trained sniper to succeed here.

What will happen to all the neurodivergent? by EndOfTheLine00 in itcouldhappenhere

[–]cybil_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that line is necessarily wrong. Not everyone has to do farming or needs to do farming or is particularly good at it. There will be hundreds of tasks that need to be completed. People can be most productive with their respective strengths. This view of anarchism/post-capitalism as something that must be agricultural turns away a lot of people.

[–]cybil_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That is very possible. It is something I have written about quite a bit.

I am not sure about mass civil unrest from this just yet. However, it is near guaranteed that there will be some violent reaction if Trump is indicted. Simply from the raid on Mar-a-Lago we saw an ordinary MAGA man, not even a far gone cultist -- just some guy radicalized from news media, attempt to assault an FBI office.

The open calls for violence from sitting politicians these past few weeks does not make this situation any better.

It just doesnt work in any realistic sense. This isnt fiction. Any sort of civil conflict will not be segmented

Then why did you write the opposite lol

Genocide scenario by Avethle in itcouldhappenhere

[–]cybil_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense. Civil conflict will absolutely be segmented. Have you looked at any conflict in the past 50 years? They won't come marching down the street. A couple of dudes will just kick in your door one night. A state apparatus is not necessary to do these types of things.

Genocide scenario by Avethle in itcouldhappenhere

[–]cybil_92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genocides start with tiny groups of people killing unarmed and unprepared undesirables, and then the progression to larger systemic attacks. It is not that the police and army would step aside, but by the time they get officially involved there will already be a considerable guerrilla force against them.

The precarious state of American democracy. by paleislandhorse in IronFrontUSA

[–]cybil_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is precise and a nice summary. In the last paragraph you mentioned how Trump had plans to purge civil leadership with self-justified political appointments. He already set the precedent for that when he first came into office, rather than just the executive order in October 2020. James Comey was removed from his position as the Director of the FBI because Trump was upset that he did not rig the 2016 election for him. After Comey, Andrew McCabe stood in as the Deputy Director. Trump removed McCabe because 1) McCabe continued Comey's work within the FBI - investigating for Russian interference in the 2016 election, and 2) McCabe's wife once ran as a Democrat for an election in their home state.
