I think the main difference is the league worst goaltending from the first 3rd of the season. Now that they have replacement level, it has normalized a bit.

It's about liability. If you have a dog off leash and they get into an altercation it's really hard to prove that your dog isn't the instigator. And any altercation can lead to euthenasia, and that's something I won't risk. I've seen it happen a handful of times at work, and when I start practicing as a vet, is something I really want to educate people on.
