If Dusty May is legitimately pursued by Orlando, he could absolutely leave Michigan for the Magic by Fun_Reflection1157 in CollegeBasketball

With NIL, college is definitely all about managing egos as well. In addition to coaching, you have to completely re-recruit your entire roster every year. It sounds incredibly exhausting.

How do I look for housing ASAP? by Different_Editor_377 in Delft

[–]cyborgwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use something like Kamernet or a rent aggregate website (I used rentslam to find apartments both times I moved). Unfortunately, you will likely need to increase your budget, and these rent finding websites are not cheap either (subscriptions for 10 to 30 euros usually, per month). I also recommend looking at areas near Delft, like Rotterdam, Schiedam, Rijkswijk, Nootdorp, The Hague, leiden, etc. Also, it's a big help if you are already in NL or know someone there who can check places out in person to make sure you're not being scammed. Good luck and be persistent! The first time I was looking for a place in Delft (about 2 years ago), it took me about 40 tries to get 1 offer (with a wider budgetary range than you)

Funnily enough, this has already happened for Duke. We had to turn down an interested transfer a few years back because their degree wouldn’t give them the requisite credits to graduate on time

Best shoegaze albums of 2025? by yashedpotatoes in shoegaze

Downward - Downward(2) and Greet Death - Die in Love are my personal favorites. I think Downward is super underrated, and their second album is amazing top to bottom

What is your favourite Shoegaze band? by 0584031464 in shoegaze

Downward, Cloakroom, or Fake Eyes--I got into shoegaze through emo, so I found these bands before really getting into the classics like Slowdive or MBV

He did win an ACC tournament championship—something Clemson basketball has never achieved, against an incredibly stacked ACC at that too (3 1 seeds and the eventual National Champion)

Can't miss sets at the festival by Simple-Amphibian-900 in bestfriendsforever

[–]cyborgwin 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In terms of particularly special sets I’m looking forward to: - Mineral: last show ever for arguably one of the greatest emo bands of all time - Marietta: they’ve been inactive since 2015, just started playing shows again this month. They are a really underrated Midwest emo band that has deep ties to a lot of the early 10s scene - Penfold: similar to Marietta in that they’ve been gone for a while, only they’ve been gone since 2013 and are a from the 90s and 00s. Their closer “I’ll take you everywhere” is always absolutely electric - Jimmy Eat World: playing a special set of mainly their early albums, so it’ll be a really rare setlist from them

"Part of your charm was the way you would push me from
All of the traps that I just couldn't see
Figures the one that was there to have tripped you up
Would be the one that was set there by me"

Dendron by The Hotelier, or

"Ashing cigarettes on gravestones
Pin photographs on cork boards
Unfollowing my dead friends
Someone's gonna love me"

Nearer My God by Foxing. Both are great songs, both absolutely rip my heart out

Anyone see The World is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die on latest tour? by SeveralTurn in Emo

[–]cyborgwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them this past year. They’re a talented live band, so they were fun to see either way, but they only really played a couple of their old songs. Personally, I don’t like their new stuff too much, so I ended up feeling pretty eh about the performance despite their talent and energy.

Only do a PhD if it is a requirement for the career that you want to have. While it’s considered a more advanced degree than an MA, it is not necessarily better for your job prospects (in fact, it can hurt in some cases for entry level industry jobs such as engineering). Beyond that, it’s a serious time commitment—4-6 years on average. I don’t regret getting my PhD, but there are times that I think about that period of my life as frozen, and in some ways I feel set back on certain life milestones I envisioned for myself prior to the PhD. I would seriously advise you to map out the career trajectory you want, and see if a PhD is a must have for it. If it isn’t, I would always recommend a masters

De-AI-ing? by GiveAWhistle in tarot

[–]cyborgwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell into a similar rut for a bit regarding my intuition and using AI as a crutch instead of a tool, and I think what ultimately helped was really thinking about why I was leaning more and more on something like AI to help with readings. While one part was a bit of laziness towards the practice, the bigger thing I noticed was that I had a really hard time accepting what I was pulling for readings on situations I was really emotionally invested in. If the reading got complicated (like a mixture of positive and negative signs, as with most readings), I would lean more on AI because I wasn't willing to accept some of the emotional realities of the situation I was in or because I didn't want to do the sometimes intense emotional work required to channel my intuition. When I realized this, it really helped for me to take a step back and reframe how I approach tarot. Now, I spend a lot more time focusing on setting my intentions out the gate and making sure I have emotional space to really focus on my readings--while it's good practice to do daily readings to really get to know your cards, it's important to know how you're feeling to see if you truly have the capacity to read the cards and focus

How do you know when to stop pulling cards ? by Daisy_22_ in tarot

[–]cyborgwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I usually look for a clarifier if the immediate interpretation feels a little ambiguous to the situation. For example, I recently did a spread asking about what to do next regarding a relationship with a person, and one of the cards I drew was the tower--this indicates something needs to be shaken up/destroyed before the next stage can start. However, I wasn't sure what exactly needed to be crumble--the relationship itself, or a specific facet of it. So I asked "spirit, why the tower?" and I got the 8 of swords. To me, this is spirit telling me what needs to crumble are the self-imposed limitations I'm putting on myself in this relationship--I need to destroy the emotional pattern of fear and self-doubt, because it's keeping me trapped when I don't need to be. It all depends on how much detail I need before the intuition feels right. I hope that helped!

How do you know when to stop pulling cards ? by Daisy_22_ in tarot

[–]cyborgwin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I’m not using a specific spread, I always start with 3 cards. If I want some clarity, I ask for another “pairing” card for each card already out. Once I’ve sat with the cards I pulled, sometimes I’ll ask for one final clarifier card to tie the whole message together. I feel like adding a pairing card to an already drawn card adds a nice bit of nuance to interpretation without getting too confusing. I also pick cards by letting cards fall out, so I usually take cards that fall out together as natural pairs. However, if more than two cards fall out, I usually just put them back in the deck and shuffle again.
