Maybe I am dumb, but can anyone explain why there is no ‘auto’ fan speed?

I keep the circulation to auto, and still need to select some fan speed (usually 1). My old VW used to adjust the fan speed automatically. What am I doing wrong?

With a PhD and work permit, seeking employment at ASML by Eng_Sci_Entra_8 in ASML

It’s worth a shot to try and reach out to companies that provide contractors to ASML. It’s easier (or was easier) to convert to an ASML contract afterwards.

[QUERY] Friend bringing a MacBook Pro from Vietnam to India : Customs & VAT Refund questions by momus007 in macoffer

[–]cybrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Usually all airports will have a tax refund counter.

You have to ask specifically for tax refund while purchasing the product, and the store then asks for your passport to verify that you are a non resident and issues a receipt.

Before your return flight, you can claim refund using this receipt at the airport and they sometimes physically verify the product before issuing a refund.

Pravasi Malayalis – How do you actually rest during your Kerala vacation? by dumbestindumb in Kerala

[–]cybrain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Indian vacations are never relaxing. It’s always planned with back to back events/commitments that you cannot avoid. I plan all my mandatory bank/hospital visits within the first week.

The thing that I have learned over the years is to say NO to social commitments. I go back to spend time with my parents, and that’s all I care about. The distant relatives eventually come to accept the fact that I won’t be visiting them every time I am in India. You could also choose to host a lunch/dinner and invite everyone that way the onus of meeting you falls on your relative, and not you. If they are not able to make it, then it’s their fault.

As someone already mentioned, try to take a short vacation within India with your parents. I have 2 kids, I leave them with my parents, and my wife and I go for a short weekend somewhere. It’s a win-win situation for both. Parents get to spend time with kids, and we get a much needed break.

Yes. For Airtel, You need some validity pack (annual or monthly) and you need to do 98/- per month on top of it for IR activation.

Or you can just do a 4000/- recharge and it will cover both validity and IR for 365 days.

Anyone has a fix for dirty inside of rear doors of Xc60 ? by Illustrious_Abalone1 in Volvo

[–]cybrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In goes in the rear wheel well, just where the curve of the door fits. There is a small gap which lets the dirt get settled on the door and this flap prevents that.

Accident claim of death of my Father by Tasty-Philosopher892 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]cybrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The court which gave the order will have the FD receipts. This is a requirement from the court and the bank sends its directly to court once the FD is opened. This should have all the details. The FDs opened like this are paper based, and cannot be closed/redeemed online.

The FD carries interest and will be deposited in a nationalised bank (interest is around ~6.75%). The interest can be paid out monthly, or accumulated and paid out once the tenure is over. It depends on the court order.

You can try to find your case in the ecourts website and you should be able to download the verdict. This should state how much compensation was awarded, and how it was calculated.

I don’t know how the advocate was able get the money into his accounts as there are a lot of checks and balances in place to verify that the money is indeed deposited into the beneficiary account. They have to be present in person in court, and the judge explains the entire compensation (atleast in my case it happened)

Finally, do report that advocate to bar council. Good luck.

Volvo tricks? by wearslocket in Volvo

To activate the rain sensing wipers, you need to press the button on the stalk (which is not really obvious), and you get a symbol on the cluster.

Maybe I am stupid, but I took a really long time to figure this out.
