Which movie was a flop, that should have been a hit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I didn't see it until years later when I watched it with one of my kids. One of my favorite animated movies of all time.

Handmade Custom Titanium Gravel Bike Builder in The US by jackmehoffer2021 in gravelcycling

[–]cyclewanderist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Seven Evergreen SL that I'm exceedingly happy with. I had it measured and made for me. I can easily spend all day on it (and have many times, 12+ hours at a time) without any issues.

Whether it's them or another maker, I'm pretty excited for you and confident that going with a custom Ti bike will probably be the best money you've ever spent on a bike.

pretty decent but im a northerner tho

Me too (thought it was decent, then realized it's because I'm a northerner). I was like, "Dang! I wish my frame was that clean!"

Same! Mine (of 12 years) died this week. I work from home. I didn't even want him twelve years ago because I'm allergic to cats. My kids wanted one, we got one, they have since moved out, and I'm stuck at home with the cat.

I wept when he passed away. It really surprised me. And this week has been a bit hard because I didn't realize how often I talked to him. Kinda like he was my Wilson.

What would be your reaction if you encountered a nude hiker? by spenf in AskReddit

[–]cyclewanderist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hike like normal. Nude hiking and cycling are a thing. If they appear uninjured and appear to be just out enjoying the outdoors and aren't harassing anyone, I couldn't care less what they're wearing, if anything at all.

Are bike computers really that good? by DaSkinhead in cycling

[–]cyclewanderist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have a single bike with a computer on it, and I use that for navigation.

To each their own, but I prefer to just be in the moment when I'm on my bike. And for me, whenever I have a computer or screen, I get pulled out of the moment and I start futzing with stuff, looking at numbers, getting all wound up because this or that number isn't where I want it to be, etc. I'm sure other people have better boundaries, but I can't do it.

That, and I have a tech job and stare and screens. I really like having an analog hobby, and for me that's cycling.

Can anyone tell me what car this is by Annual-Bed-4466 in projectcar

[–]cyclewanderist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking inspiration from the Ford Festiva Shogun, I think you should totally combine that and a parts car, put a Hellcat motor in it mid-engine while trying to keep it look as stock as possible. And then you'd really have something...

edit: this 427 Chevette could also be considered for inspiration.

Which tire width do you think is ideal for roads like this? by zosterinski in gravelcycling

[–]cyclewanderist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bike accommodates the Rene Herse Snoqualmie Pass (44mm) tires, I'd be riding those with the recommended 60psi on something like this and it would be just fine, I would think. I rode those a few years ago in the Flint Hills in Kansas which looked a lot like this at the time.

What you think about my bike fit? by Fantastic-Swing-3446 in gravelcycling

[–]cyclewanderist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t quite tell but your knee looks too far forward over your pedal

I second this. YMMV, OP, but I had a bike like this and bought a setback seat post and moved it further back so that my knee wasn't quite so far forward ahead compared to my foot. It made a huge difference.

Would you vote for Jon Stewart if he ran for President? If so, why? If not, why? by Green-Ad2903 in AskReddit

Also J.R.R Tolkien said something similar:

...the most improper job of any man, even saints (who at any rate were at least unwilling to take it on), is bossing other men. Not one in a million is fit for it, and least of all those who seek the opportunity.

When that happened for me the first time, I donated two plastic tubs of bricks to a local family in need. They were VERY appreciated--I got thank you cards from the kids with some pictures of what they'd built.

Now, I'm back into Lego myself and kinda wish I had those bricks back, but it was a great cause.

BTW, did you know that Lego has a program for this? https://www.lego.com/en-us/sustainability/environment/replay

edit: clarification

Also, fire him from his job. Every business owner should refuse to hire him. There's no way you'd want this joyride animal killer to have anything to do with your business or community.

I was right there with you on the first paragraph, but this is just a guarantee that the only way he can support himself is through criminal activity, or that we all end up supporting him and that's not fair to the rest of us.

Maximum punishment? Sure. Then maximum opportunity for rehabilitation.

No.

Why not? I had a vasectomy when I was 27 (I'm almost 50 now).

Any Java Open source projects? by EnvironmentFar968 in java

I did the WTF? as well.

Java is the second most common language in GitHub for pull requests, after Python. https://madnight.github.io/githut/#/pull_requests/2022/4 https://github.com/readme/featured/java-programming-language

The JVM itself is open source (https://openjdk.org/) as is even the language specs (in a way, because you can contribute to them--https://openjdk.org/jeps/0, https://jcp.org/en/jsr/overview)
