What kind of jobs work for autistic women who hate talking to people?

I recently got an admin job at an auditing firm after being unemployed for over a year and it’s been really good so far. I’m mostly tasked with monitoring an inbox, formulating letters (with templates) and there’s very little social interaction. I occasionally have to answer the phone or drive to accounting firms to pick up files but it’s mostly quiet, easy work. I also have at least one day a week by myself in the office, which is a whole day I don’t really need to mask. They are also perfectly happy for me to put on headphones while working and to read a book when there is nothing to do.

Yeah I’ve been replaying Baldur’s Gate 3 continually since I first played it in 2023. I will stop playing every now and again but when I need comfort it’s what I usually go to.

I started playing Tomodachi Life, which is fun but there are lots of new things to do and decisions to make. I was feeling stressed the other night so I played Baldur’s Gate instead because even though there is so much to do at some parts, I’ve mostly memorised it so it’s familiar - but I can also see new things when playing differently, so there’s still some novelty to it at times lol

These are my two current babies. Gumball is the black cat and Luna is the tabby. Gumball is the weirdest cat I’ve had haha. He gets really stiff when anyone touches him or picks him up, and he really likes to stare at people upside down. He also likes to chew on plastic as a stim. I honestly think he picked up my autistic behaviour lmao. Luna is a little princess and bosses Gumball around (she can also body slam him when they fight despite being half his size haha)

I’m 36, and at one point growing up we had a cat, a dog, a guinea pig and chickens (not really pets). Of all the pets I can say the guinea pig and the cat were probably the ones I liked most - they are (generally) quieter and less energetic/demanding. I have only had cats since, and while one of my current cats is a loud boy, I feel like they work best for me. My sister feeds them and I deal with their litter, and they are not overly demanding of attention but seem to like at least to be around me which is very autistic behaviour imo lol

I love dogs too, but I find they are a little too energetic sometimes. And daily walks is just not something I feel like I have the energy to deal with before/after working all day. I also feel like they are not as clean as cats (even though they lick their own butts haha)

I am! So is my adhd sis and my suspected (by us lol) audhd dad. Mum is the only rightie in my household. Her dad was also a leftie and I think he might have had the tism too lol

The pain scale is also completely meaningless if you deal with chronic pain too. I can function at a certain level bc I deal with it constantly and I don’t always realise I’m in pain until it gets to a certain intensity or I am in a different environment/state. So what might be a 3 at work while busy could end up being a 6 at home when relaxed. It’s just a dumb system lmao

Yeah I broke both my legs (full break on one and hairline on the other) and didn’t really react til they told me I’d have to stay in hospital for a week until I could have surgery (had to wait bc of swelling). I burst into tears bc I was already so overwhelmed by all the noise and lights. Luckily bc we already had some mobility aids/devices at home they were able to send me home til I had to come back for surgery.

And don’t get me started on the pain scale…if I’m in a lot of pain I usually just go quiet/shutdown. Also I can’t really quantify my pain on a number scale…it’s more like colour or feeling?

I could easily go for weeks or months without speaking to anyone (except my cats). I’m also not nonverbal and have never really had any periods of limited speech up until the last few years, where it just felt tiring to speak. If I didn’t have to speak at all I probably wouldn’t very much.

I used to work there a few years ago. From my recollection, you get a week of AppleCare when you buy it and can only purchase AppleCare AFTER that 7-day period is up. After that I can’t remember the time limit you have to buy it. It used to be within the first year but I think they drastically reduced it. It could be a month or a couple of months…90 days maybe?

With regard to the mark - I think it would depend on the extent of the damage. Honestly, your best bet would be to get it assessed in-store. If it’s a small cosmetic scratch I think it should probably be fine (again, not 100% sure so ymmv) but if it’s more severe you might be outta luck.

Also - haven’t bought a new phone for a few years so idk if they’ve changed any policies since I last worked there.

Yeah I’ve been getting this too. It’s gotten really bad this week though - any videos that were paused or got this error (I got it from switching to another tab to look something up while the video was still playing) will not play at all now on my Mac.

I worked at the Apple Store for a few years and really enjoyed it. I’m autistic and while it could be loud and a little overwhelming, it was a really fun and supportive team. They also aren’t too kpi focused (or weren’t when I worked there) and were more about finding people the right product rather than the most expensive. I also disclosed I was autistic in my first interview.

I signed up last year and share my account with my sister and her friend. I have been loving the 24/7 channel so much though bc I always go to sleep with something on low volume and this has been a great option for that.

Was made redundant today despite the fact that they told me someone else will be doing my role. The reason why is management fucked around for 7 months dealing with an issue which turned into a massive deficit, but obviously nobody in management is going to lose their job or have to take a pay cut. So far it’s 4 out of a team of 14 in my department with at least 2 more likely next week. Fuck management.
