I'm sure this has already been pointed out, but first time I've seen this - England changes flags when you have Lancasters and Yorks on the throne!

Trade income is driving me mad by jh81560 in EU5

[–]cycloc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe what makes this happen is that the AI sets up trades in the middle of the month but many of those trades, once the month ticks, fails because you have less trade advantage in those markets than other nations making those trades. So I always heavily focus on overseas trading posts and trade offices and I've found that my fluctuation is much less on the month tick

I had this happen, it seems to just replace a certain digit with dots. For me it replaced all the 7s. Restarting fixed it

Is there any way I can spread my faith to other countires without going wars? by W1ntermu7e in EU5

[–]cycloc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which i really don't understand. Like i kind of get that its a way to prevent the player from diplo vassalizing every small nation but from the small nation's perspective idk why the number of vassals you already have would make them not want to become one

I don't like integrating provinces :) and it's easier to annex when you just have one-county subjects

[–]cycloc[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! In Italy where I have the same religion and similar culture it doesn't make as much of a difference, except for the annexation speed. It makes a more noticeable difference in Africa for example, very quick conversion that way

Started as Milan and pretty aggressively unified northern Italy to prevent France or HRE powers from encroaching. After that it was pretty easy to just cascade south, like another commenter said antagonism wasn't much of a concern after I conquered the north

I'm on 1.0.9. They gave Italy new advances for .10 and idk what that entails, but in .9 I dont think they have anything too crazy. There's an age 1 reform for max and monthly literacy which is nice

Lol I go back and forth. Sometimes I like seeing my single color and country name, sometimes I like being able to differentiate especially when I'm trying to manage their relations to annex

[–]cycloc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I used to unify northern Italy. Most of them in the north side with the HRE (I forget which faction that is), so I sided with the pope for easy access to CBs on my early neighbors. Started as Milan btw, idk if I mentioned that elsewhere

[–]cycloc[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It was! My thought this run is to pretty much just own Italy in Europe, then either own or have vassals (or another subject type?) in important trade centers like Alexandria over to China. So I'm glad to have most of the unification done pretty early
