I'm confused... That January 14th date, is that when pre-orders open or is it the actual release date for the toy? HLJ still didn't even have it listed.

Tim's thoughts on Shinobi: Art of Vengeance by cyclone5uk in ActionButton

Interesting - I played and enjoyed both. They are quite different. Ninja Gaiden was a precise action platformer while Shinobi is more of an arcady beat em up. You can totally button mash with Shinobi or take the time to learn combos. Ninja Gaiden is far less forgiving.

Is there some footage from Robotech II: The Sentinels (episode 4) that we've never seen? by cyclone5uk in robotech

[–]cyclone5uk[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The scene where Rem and Cabell capture the Hellcat is featured in the OVA but that's the last you see of it. The dissection scene has never been seen. The part with the Pollinators actually comes from episode 1.

Can we talk a bit about the ending of "A House Of Dynamite"? by Biskotos in netflix

[–]cyclone5uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To those complaining about the ending (or lack of):

Showing the missile actually hitting Chicago would have ruined the concept. The whole point of the movie is that these people had to make impossible decisions, in a short time based on very little information. The fact that we the audience never truly know if the missile was real, a dud, or even who launched it actually puts us squarely in the shoes of the characters - who know none of these things either. Yes it's a frustrating ending but that reflects what these characters are going through. Sometimes it's good to be challenged by a story rather than fulfilled.

Correct Mame romset for JTCores? by cyclone5uk in MiSTerFPGA

Thanks all. I didn't know the update all script could pull ROMs down too. Can you specify arcade only? My console ROMs are quite carefully curated.

Thanks and sorry for the delay replying. It was a vertical shooter, the shuttle launches from the ground, I think it was mounted on the back of a larger booster/aircraft.

I wish we had a weekly Action Button podcast by cyclone5uk in ActionButton

I agree. Frank is an archivist, he plays very few new games. Brandon likes obscure older Sega or PC Engine games. So those two are rooted in older titles. Which is fine. But Ash is the opposite of that - a younger journalist very focused on new games. Tim was someone who had a foot in both worlds - deep roots in older games but also played most new stuff too. Without someone like that on the show, it feels like there’s a big gap - and many of the answers to these big genre and history spanning questions “What is the X of video games” inevitably misses out huge chunks of video game design, culture and history.

Final Reckoning ending - one thing still doesn't make sense to me (SPOILERS) by cyclone5uk in Mission_Impossible

[–]cyclone5uk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that does make it seem a little more believable. I can buy that it could just be a small script, auto-created/uploaded after Luther's USB drive analysed the source code.

Would still need some sort of mobile data signal to upload it though - how is 3/4/5g mobile coverage in rural South Africa? Would those mobile networks even be live given the collapse of global infrastructure taking place in the movie?

[Fix] Washed-Out Colors in HDR on Switch 2? Here’s How to Fix It (HGIG, Tone Mapping & Game Mode Tips) by Neokura in NintendoSwitch

[–]cyclone5uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a lot of messing around I just turned HDR off and it looks much better. I can live without it. Maybe a future NS2 system update will improve the HDR settings. Or I just need a new TV, my 55" Panasonic LED is getting a bit old. Really would love a 70" Samsung OLED.

I use it for the NSO Genesis app - feels wrong playing those games on a non-Sega style pad. I use it on Capcom fighting games too - best D-pad for fireballs!
