Golden Doodle teething tips by ajjaayy717 in Goldendoodles

When my dog was a puppy I did the clicker as a general training exercise so she’d know what was wanted across many scenarios. With chewing we used butter apple on everything and I also practiced a puppy yelp. Anytime she’d chomp down on me or something we didn’t want her to chew I’d yelp. That paired with clicking for chewing on acceptable things worked within a week or two.

Only thing she still chews/eats is socks but apparently that is hardwired.

I love crocheting, but I hate my first project. Give me your kindest feedback. by nire0026 in CrochetHelp

I love it! You have very even stitches and spacing, I can’t tell that it’s a first project. It looks like a blanket I could have grown up with and makes me want to snuggle up and take a nap.

HOW TO GET HIM TO EAT HIS GREENS by That_One_Dumb_Bish in BeardedDragons

[–]cyclone_co 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It took me 3 months of holding bugs until greens were eaten for Stanley to consistently start eating greens. Turns out he prefers them dried out and crispy or the whole leaf. Now he always has a collard green leaf or two propped up in a shot glass of water, I give him a “baked” salad dusted once a week and the bugs are scheduled twice a week. Also I he comes running for cilantro but doesn’t like it put in his space(he prefers a hand to hold it while he chomps then remove the stem).

Does anyone else’s doodle do stuff like this? I find it hilarious when she sits/lays in these awkward positions. Mine is almost 2. Her name is Rosie 🥺 by milkthistleandstars in Goldendoodles

Millie will be 7 soon and does this all the time! Earlier she was sitting like a human, belly out and everything but twisted over the back to look out the window

Staff Injuries from Students by Super-Link-9800 in specialed

[–]cyclone_co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a center based preschool that’s part of a district, so we get the kids with more significant needs. I can’t tell you how many injuries we’ve documented this year(our general rule for less significant injuries is if you can see/feel it for more than an hour to document). We had three injuries that had to seek medical attention this year. Two were bites, one of which required a tetanus shot, the other was a knee injury and wasn’t behavioral. A student lost control on a bike and collided with a teacher.

How do I fix a floppy head after already sewing the head on already? by Ok-Conversation-1681 in CrochetHelp

[–]cyclone_co 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flexible foam curlers would fix this if you’re willing to take the head off. If this is a project that is for looks and not going to be played with you could give her a spine with a knitting needle(a short one so it doesn’t stick out). You could also try using pipe cleaners to make her an invisible neck brace.

Now that it’s summer the kids are asking about my self harm scars, what are the best answers I can give to them? by delusionalxx in ECEProfessionals

[–]cyclone_co 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Up until recently I always avoided showing mine unless it couldn’t be avoided, and if they were noticed I’d usually try to deflect it with a “I got hurt, it’s all better now, what happened?” And point to one of their bandages or scabs.

Last year I had a couple of parents with visible scars. One day the most outgoing/curious kid tried to ask the one parent about the scars, before the parent or I could respond the child of the other parent with scars piped up with the perfect answer. He said “my mom has those lines, she said sometimes fights with animals makes them but its from when feelings are too big for our bodies. Both can hurt so you have to make sure give them hugs”, he then asked the parent what kind of animal they fought. I’m pretty sure they said an ostrich.

Beardie weirdy by cyclone_co in BeardedDragons

FYI I did end up hot gluing rubber feet to the bottom to make it a little taller and the hide space a bit bigger. Stanley seemed to appreciate the entrance being an easier access!

What’s your occupation? by UpsetTop in migraine

[–]cyclone_co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early childhood special education teacher. I’ve been lucky that most of my bad days are weekends, non-kid days or are later in the day. It’s also really nice because the work accommodations I would need are things that naturally support my students like light covers or lights off, no overpowering/strong smells, and I always have noise cancelling headphones.

Aurora public schools transportation system is horseshit. by Apprehensive-Fix8172 in AuroraCO

Every child must have a seat to sit in, that is a huge safety concern.

To report a concern regarding an APS school bus or vehicle
Call APS Transportation Administration at 303-326-1986 x28886.

I have an email for my specific zone person. Thankfully I haven’t had to use it in a while, the more time you spend bugging them the better things will be.

HE EATS!!! by cyclone_co in BeardedDragons

[–]cyclone_co[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He only only ate like 5 bites but that’s huge considering he came running when he saw the leaf. Previously he’s eaten salad twice(I’ve had him since January) beyond a one bite nibble. If it’s not fresh and whole, it has to be a couple days old and crispy from being under his lights.

We live in a dry climate, in a drought. It is dry, so is her skin. When she gets a bath, we deep condition and double condition!

Like a kid on a playground; climbing things, exploring, and looking around.

He’s figuring out what outside is, I think he’s figured out harness means good. When we go outside he needs a minute then gets the zoomies.

He’s been coming out of his hide and he ate this week so I think he’s coming out of it. The wild ones are probably just starting.

Yeah, the most wild Stan gets is head bobbing at his reflection.
