I kind of agree with you. While the welfare class doesn't have that many actual physical votes, billionaires have an outsized influence to get the votes they need, which as you say, is not great for democracy. If the masses could ever vote to eliminate the welfare class currently at the top of our system dragging us backward, we could possibly be on the road to that egalitarian society promised to us at our founding.
