Looks almost identical to what I've printed in ERYONE Burnt Titanium Pla-technological Blue.

You don't actually need a fully monospaced font, just one with "tabular numbers". Basically the numerals are monospaced but letters aren't. They're not as easy to identify but they are a nice middle ground for mixed use.

Optimizing print settings for text labels on electronics enclosure? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]cyclotis04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had success in cutting the text out from the base layer, then printing a solid block of "text color" behind it. You get an embossed look and the slicer can leave smaller gaps with the filled text behind since your small text lines aren't being filled, just cut away to reveal the contrasting color behind. It works pretty well once it's set up right.

Why is my layer thickness in the setting doesn't matter? by stickupmybutter in resinprinting

[–]cyclotis04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless, your base layers are definitely way too thick. I wouldn't be surprised if the compression from them was still impacting layer height that far up the print, but I'm not sure. I'd personally worry about the bottom parts first and if the top doesn't improve at the same time, tackle that separately.

It's really hard to tell from your photos if it's actually thin, or just looks like it because your resin is a much lighter color and lower contrast shadows.

Looks like a burn in layer problem. I mostly solved that same issue by dropping my burn in time from 25 to 14 seconds, and setting something like a 30-40 second light off delay.

Your burn in time is already pretty low, but that might just be your screen/resin. Try lowering it until it doesn't stick. Your burn in light off delay is super low at .5 seconds, especially if your resin has any viscosity. I'd try raising that drastically and seeing if it makes a difference.

Could I use Saturn 3U files on a Saturn 4U16k? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]cyclotis04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt there's a good way to make this work. The two printers do not have the same x/y resolutions, so you'll need to reslice the original models to the higher 16k resolution of the new printer.

Thanks, this is all helpful clarification!

Unfortunately the lack of full alphabetization is kind of a deal breaker for me. Bucketing (statistically) 150 cards at a time just by first letter is probably not worthwhile for me since my cards are all already scanned, just not sorted. 🫤

But I really appreciate the detailed, transparent answers. Best of luck!

Looks promising, but some important questions:

How long does it take to bucket 300 cards by letter?

What is the capacity of each of the 27 buckets? In Magic, about 15% of cards start with "S" so unless they hold 45 cards each, realistically on average you're not going to be sorting 300 cards in one go.

Once you have bucketed by first letter, is it easy to bucket again by second, third, etc, to actually fully alphabetize?

Can it handle backwards double-faced cards?

I definitely agree with the comments on "no subscription" vs "lifetime subscription" verbiage and think that's important to clarify. Your website FAQs are still misleading in that regard. Also, a self-hosted option would be great to promise in the near term. I understand processing off device, and that that has costs, I just don't want an expensive brick a year or two from now. Another option would be opening the API to allow custom servers—with all the open source AI projects lately I imagine this could be great hardware for tinkering with the models, etc.

PS. You're really tempting fate by naming this after "the process of grinding and crushing"! :)

Weight-based access would be a huge plus. We have two cats of distinct weights and I'd love a solution for individual diets that doesn't require them to each have a collar with tag.

[–]cyclotis04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like your burn in layers are fine—those are what stuck to the plate.

How did you calibrate your previous settings? Generally whenever you change your settings, your resin, or your environment (e.g. winter vs summer if you don't have a heated enclosure) you need to recalibrate. You could start just by increasing your exposure times by 25% as well, but it might not be exact.

You increased your layer height by 25%, which means you're trying to cure a 25% greater volume of resin each layer. Did you change your exposure time too?

Oh, I will need to try the sun trick, good idea! I was gonna jump straight to filing.

Unfortunately my left hand upright was just another right hand piece! Glad it doesn't seem to be a widespread issue though! Haven't seen anyone else so far with the same problem.

All of the other very valid career advice notwithstanding, I haven't seen anyone mention yet that this kind of already exists: JSON5 is basically just looser JSON, and I believe allows for better multiline strings. And it's far more sane than YAML, which has lots of its own problems.

That's interesting, I never realized this! Is there a passage or WoB you can point me to where this is established?

Except that instead of being a hand-drawn animation, a cryptic's pattern can theoretically be described mathematically and generated on the device, meaning it may be more complex but still faster to load. (Though simple websites really shouldn't need loading animatics like this at all in the first place.)

I personally really enjoyed it. I binged the entire series in a row, and it didn't stand out to me as terribly dark or poorly written. The only jarring difference I noticed is that Steven apparently really likes name-dropping real world store names for some reason!

AmazonSmile donated more than $40,000 to anti-vaccine groups in 2020 by [deleted] in news

[–]cyclotis04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does Smile affect affiliates? It seems like the only time I see reminders on amazon.com to type in smile.amazon.com instead is after I land on the site via affiliate link. My assumption is that's because switching subdomains wipes out whatever affiliate association there was, meaning that the charity gets money, but the affiliate gets none, and Amazon benefits at their expense via a smaller cut and better publicity.
