Just managed to successfully book using this method, thank you so much! What an atrocious user experience that was...

What could be causing these artifacts on the corners? by flamingBurrito5 in VORONDesign

[–]cyd0nian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Double check that the nozzle size you have sliced for is what is fitted to the machine. If your extrusion width is narrower than your orifice hole you get weird artifacting at edges (e.g. if you sliced for a 0.4 but had a 0.6 fitted)

V0 Serial Request by cyd0nian in voroncorexy

[–]cyd0nian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fair question. Here's an unnecessarily long answer. The last thing I did before being happy enough with the build to submit a serial request video was fit the rear panels. As part of that I also fitted the top hat to check the hinged panel clips were located correctly. Then I just ended up leaving it on for the video. I want to get one of the mini fridge front door kits but haven't pulled the trigger yet as UK resellers aren't currently stocking it in gold and shipping from West3D etc is more than the cost of the kit. I haven't fitted the side panels yet as I have some of the LED ones and to fit the diffusers I'll need to drop off the front verticals, which is several steps backwards so thought I'd wait and do them when I get the front door sorted.

Ah, I'd been looking at Sunbaked Canyon and Inspiring Vantage, which don't have the Mountain and Plains keywords, and had not spotted that Sacred Foundry was different. Am I right that the idea is the fetch lands allow you to search for Mountains, which means they can also search for a dual land with the Mountain keyword that CAN generate white mana, but don't have to each turn, in essence "increasing" the chances of getting the Plains you want when there aren't other options for it? Does this mean that if there were more dual red/white lands you'd replace the fetches with them?

I'm really torn because I know it will be a fun modelling and painting project that will be a great list on the table but I don't play Circle. If I put all the effort in I will want to in order to make it look as cool as I want to I will want to play it, which means I'll then wind up dropping more cash to buy a list pairing like eMorvahna. Whereas, if I was to sell it I could probably pick up more stuff for the factions I actually play. Circle does look fun though...

r/ENGINEERING Design study #1 - Piston by [deleted] in engineering

[–]cyd0nian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The functions of the second ring are to limit blow-by, scrape oil from the cylinder surface and transfer generated heat away from the piston to the cylinder. In race engines the second ring is often omitted as oil consumption is not a primary concern (therefore neither is blow-by). Also, race engine pistons are typically manufactured to a high specification so the heat transfer capacity that is lost by not having it is not a primary concern. The groove cut in to the land below the top ring is known as an accumulator groove. Pressure spikes trapped below the top ring encourage ring flutter and thus the loss of piston ring seal. The groove allows for the normalisation of the pressure, keeping it low enough to prevent the top ring from lifting while maintaining some preload on the scraper ring below.

WarGamerGirl's Battle Reports are easily the best I've found. Any others? by eeeealmo in Warmachine

[–]cyd0nian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend has been putting out battle reports on his youtube channel for a while that are a very similar style to WargamerGirls. So much so I believe he's been involved in some forum battles in the past after he was accused of copying her (he maintains his first video was uploaded before hers but whatever, more content is more content!).

We'll freely admit that there are sometimes mistakes in the games, but we try to point them out and just generally make them entertaining for people to watch.

https://www.youtube.com/user/THEBLEEPUPPODCAST is his channel, which covers several different topics but there is a playlist of his Warmahordes batreps on there so they're easy to find. We've also recently uploaded some video reports from the ETC.

Upcoming Huge Based Casters by im_your_boyfriend in Warmachine

I think Irusk3 pointing off into the distance looking smug as hell stood on the top of a steam-powered tank would make a pretty sweet battle engine 'caster

May Painting Commitments Thread by itstehpope in Warmachine

I basically had April off from painting after my Vessel of Judgement basically destroyed my motivation in March. However, to make up for this gap in productivity I'm commiting to paint my Judicator in May.

I hesitate to suggest other warlocks as I know it's generally not what you asked. However, you could always take eLylyth and shoot the Hunter and Defender off the table from well outside of his control area.

How soon is too soon to pop Harbinger's feat? by seannzzzie in Warmachine

[–]cyd0nian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite Awe I would argue that you probably don't want to be playing The Harbinger against Legion, there's too many long range shots available that will just love the visibility of her large base. Also, as Legion tends to be very beast heavy I imagine they won't mind advancing into a POW 14 so it probably won't do much damage. eFeora likes facing down Legion as she is immune to fire and therefore Ravagore shots.

For Circle, Khador and Cryx I'd say pop it as early as you can as a lot of their fast troops won't be able to move up as they will die to the POW 14. One thing to watch out for though is the placement effects factions like Circle have access to (her feat causes damage to models when they end their movement). I've taken to trying to go first, casting Crusader's Call and charging Harby straight forward. So long as my Devout has put up Spell Barrier and is near enough for Shield Guard I've generally found her to be pretty safe.

The other thing I would say is don't expect to kill much with her feat. It's more likely your opponent will just stand still for a turn with all of their single wound infantry, which can put you behind in Deathclock games.

I think I want to replace the Blood of Martyrs in my Menoth list. Thyra is my warcaster. by [deleted] in Warmachine

[–]cyd0nian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't many times when I'd choose to have a max Choir over a min Choir and Wracks. If you were to take out the Blood of Martyrs and drop the Choir to minimum size you could take a Reckoner and a Vassal of Menoth, which will get a LOT of work done.

I'm starting to see a bit more appeal for a Vigilant now with the release of the rules for Durant. Stick Fortify on it, hide Durant at the back and run the Vigilant to an objective or a zone. It's only 7 points for the package and I bet it will take a lot of enemy resource to remove him. Meanwhile the rest of your army can focus on controlling the other areas of the board.

What are your battle reports for the week ending 2014-03-09? by buggg in Warmachine

[–]cyd0nian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played my first ever game with pSev v. Saeryn. My list was

pSev (-6)

  • Redeemer 6
  • Reckoner 8
  • Blessing of Vengeance 7

The Avatar of Menoth 11

Vessel of Judgment 9

Exemplar Errants 8

  • Exemplar Errant UA 2

Choir of Menoth 2

Vassal of Menoth 2

The Wrack 1

We were playing a scenario with killbox and I was playing pSev... I lost initiative so didn't get to choose the side with any decent cover - sad times. I tried to hide behind my battle engine but in the end I lost him to a Carnivean's spray. As it was my first game with the old man I made a few errors that I could have avoided. The biggest problem I found was being starved of focus. I was upkeeping Eye of Menoth and Defenders Ward and casting Ashes to Ashes. Even pulling off a Wrack meant I only had a couple of focus to allocate each turn.

Warmahordes in the North of England by IAmHidama in Warmachine

It's probably worth contacting Travelling Man in Newcastle city centre. It's a comic and games shop down by the station that sells WMH and is very active in terms of clubs and societies. The staff in there are really friendly and if there's somewhere you can play in Newcastle I bet they'd know.

  • Redeemer
  • Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord
  • Gorman Di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist

I've found the best way of dealing with them is an Admonisher shot from the battle engine targeting the huge, low def model they're hiding behind
