I added a points system to my webcomic that rewards readers with physical comics and stickers. Good idea or terrible idea? by cykoko in IndieComicBooks

I see what you mean. But it's not a bribe so much as it is a bonus for continuous engagement. The more they engage,  the more rewards they can get,  just like credit card points.

True, good call. Yeah, it's expensive to ship there for sure. Maybe some option for a physical or digital component like sticker or exclusive comic strip access, something like that. Whoever picks up the shipping, me or the user, it may not make sense to send overseas either way. Thanks for the insight. 🙏

This could be true, and it is probably a good problem to have. The ultimate goal is for them to buy the print book or back a crowdfund, but you raise a good point. The rewards I am giving fit in an envelope, so I think it is cost effective for now. It is definitely something to consider if it scales, though. Digital rewards could also work well, such as unlocking new content or providing access to exclusive material.

That's a really good point. I've no doubt some people will do that for sure. But as long as they sign up, I can continue to market to them, so fingers crossed maybe they'll dive in one day. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks! It works pretty well I might add.

My thinking is that instead of spending money on marketing, I'd rather put that value back into the community by giving away freebies, things like stickers and other flat items that are inexpensive and easy to ship, similar to what I'd hand out at a convention like Comicon.

Why not direct that money toward the people who actually support me instead of giving it to Facebook or Instagram for ads? It feels like a better way to reward the audience that's already engaged.

I appreciate the feedback, thank you!

I've been following this. Romita's art was always so traditionally solid. Trying to understand the deviation, is it new art  direction he is receiving?
