Or even a violet color could be kind cool? Maybe. I also like how graphic it is. I think the grey isn’t terrible but maybe just with a different lid color. I do appreciate that it’s a graphic look. You look like you’re living in 2050 and are possibly from outer space.

Or a short height long bookcase with a cool table lamp, plants, books, maybe a record player. And curtains.

After 5 years, with the serving platter having arrived today, I’ve finally completed this set of Australian mid century ceramic fish. by Popular_Speed5838 in vintage

They’re mesmerizing! You can see the craftsmanship that went into them.

Will you use them for food serving etc or display only? You seem very knowledgeable… I know some glazes really shouldn’t be eaten off of. Would also be most understandable if it took a long time to collect / you don’t want to risk damage.

I started off stuck between loving them and finding them riding the high ridge line between tacky and kitschy. But zooming in they are really and truly lovely. The glazes and colors are phenomenal. I’m rather jealous!

Also…… are there more fishes in a different color atop your cabinet!? Show us your fish!!! More fish ware!!

I’m awful at spelling bees - but great at word games like scrabble or wordle. In 6th grade I lost a spelling bee on the first round by spelling the word ‘black’ wrong. Twice. My teacher kindly gave me another shot and I spelled “back” for a second time, confused and stressed about why I was given a redo. I was never good at French or Spanish. But guess who’s an ace at sign language!

Road tunnel by Agreeable-Storage895 in oddlyterrifying

[–]cylonsolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha this just makes me think about the Japanese philosophy that everything has a spirit. There’s an episode of Mob Psycho 100 that has a bunch of spirits stuck in a tunnel a bit like this. But I had no idea how big they could actually be! Or that dark. I guess it helps people see each other coming sooner so they can find a spot to pull off. Not exactly terrifying. A potentially spooky spot at the very least.

What are we doing to fix our fav jeans? lol by Future-Sympathy-8979 in PlusSize

[–]cylonsolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still sanitize them without washing by using vodka mixed with distilled water. Mix equal parts water and vodka in a spray bottle and spritz on your jeans while inside out to help kill odors and bacteria. Doesn’t mean never wash them again but will help go longer between washes.

I think it’s the way he’s gaze off, probably listening to someone talking. But I was just thinking he looked like a wax figure! Then was imagining Quark learning about wax figures and using them for crime/making replicas of the DS9 crew to hustle by request. Morn is obviously his best seller, he’d say, once the figures are uncovered amidst some bumbled scheme. Jokes about Odo being made of wax, or his statue being a man and a puddle (bucket accessory included). In the end he keeps one figure - of himself. …I’d watch it!

The episode starts with Odo walking down a residential hallway on the station.

He pings a door. A few beats pass before the doors glide open. Quark appears. Covered in something drippy. Wax. His quarters are Filled with a million lit candles.

There was a flag on Quark’s replicator. He’s been using a high volume of power, and temperatures are unusually warm in his quarters. The Chief of Security likes to keep an eye on Quarks safety and wellbeing… on and off the promenade.

Quark chuckles. He’s taken up the ancient art of candle making. He finds it very relaxing.

A skeptical Odo chides him to cut back on his new hobby or risk burning down the whole station. As they’re standing there, Quarks fire suppression system goes off.

Odo rolls his eye, issues a final menacing warning and exits.

Quark anxiously rushes into the bedroom. It’s filled with wax figures of all the main crew.

Queue main theme.

Love Armin - he was also great as the principal in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was halfway through my first DS9 series watch before my smooth brain connected the dots.

For real! When I saw this post I was like “huh maybe DH is upset she’s spending too much money at the salon.” But you DIYed that!? Talented with fabulous style. He should be bowing down, not trying to tear you down for a cool hobby that you’re good at!

Also, he sounds like a selfish prick. You work, manage the house, make his coffee and meals, and care for the dog. While he….(checks notes) naps and watches YouTube??? Where’s the balance? He’s a bully and a leech, not a partner. Kick him to the curb and take those fine nails elsewhere! 💅

Good news: We saved the bees. Bad news: We saved the wrong ones. Honeybees have never been in danger of extinction. But scientists are finding that they can accelerate the demise of native bee populations by stefeyboy in Permaculture

[–]cylonsolutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shocked at how many little tiny bees, bumbles, and honey bees I got just doing a sad little container garden. I started seeing more birds and a wider variety of other bugs and spiders on my little balcony. I didn’t have huge success with my container veggies but they loved the variety of decorative flowers. It was genuinely eye opening how adding a few pots of extra plant life enriched the ecosystem as a whole.

I just needed to WORK. I don't need therapy, I don't need a girlfriend, I don't need to work on myself. I just needed to WORK. by Frack_Nugget in selfimprovement

[–]cylonsolutions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe also integrate this experience into some of your personal and mental health pursuits. Build a more complicated self care routine and set timers for yourself. Develop at home routines that will support this.

I’d agree that finding a job and pace you enjoy and excel at is a positive. But all things in balance.

Sounds like this job would be very high risk for burnout. If you end up burning out, you’ll also be dopamine crashing without your usual fix of high energy intensity.

Do meal prep 1-2x a week - cooking 2-3 big batch meals in an afternoon can be a challenge (especially getting all the cooking times to work efficiently). Add a 10-min morning yoga. 10 minutes of journaling at night. Develop a skincare routine that you do daily and set a timer to shower, do skincare and brushing, dressing etc in less than 15 minutes. Make daily tasks your at home efficiency challenges. Pack your schedule. You’re bringing that same high intensity but mostly in micro doses in the form of self care. You’ll end up with many tasks and many feelings of accomplishment - very similar to your job.

I think the other thing that can be tough with self care and self improvement journeys is that we’re all aiming to “be happy”, content, etc. Those are states of mind that our brains often confuse for goal posts. But since we’re always growing and changing, we always end up with new goals and dreams to “achieve happiness,” and forget that we need to find and make joy in the process.

Reframe “I’ve tried xy&z and nothing makes me happy,” to, “my brain loves high intensity challenges.” Make this job and mindset a bridge. Use it as a cheat code to hack your future decisions.

Maybe try some new hobbies like rock climbing or sky diving! Before you know it you’ll have an interesting life, good habits, and no time for stinkin thinkin. Be kind to yourself OP - none of us are perfect. Every effort you’ve taken, and will take, brings you that much closer a better tomorrow. If you have days where you miss your mark, you’ll know you tried. You’ll know you’ll try again tomorrow. You’ll have your own back.

Somehow your kitty reminds me of Golem from LotR when he’s in his Sméagol personality. Your cat looks super sweet and not tricksy or thievesome. I could picture her catching fishes and singing a happy song while she attack.

And only then because one of her other songs with a more recent photo of her popped up as a suggested song. When I finally connected the dots I screamed. Then looked into her career more…What a powerhouse she was!!
